Re: Atco tonight with auto addictions.

Are you still running the same motor as last year?

What did you change on the suspention?

Hope you do well, looks like you picked a rather hot night. Good luck.

Re: Atco tonight with auto addictions.

Well i drove it home. Thats a good thing. I got the boost controller set up properly in 3 runs.
That was a milestone. For the first time in i experienced rock solid boost control from start to finish. It made 31# down the entire 1320. I highly recommend the AMS 1000 controller with air assist. I also trapped my best mph 130.8. I do however have one issue my 60 fts where 1.75s alll night. yuck!! I still managed 10.80 @130.8 with the bad 60 fts. The reason for this came to me after my 2nd run. With the boost controller set in timer mode ,it uses the tps sensor at 100% to start the boost control. On the starting line i am brake standing the truck to build boost. Not at 100 tps more like 50%. The waste gate spring is 12# so until i trip the tps at 100% it will not make more than 12#. As soon as my foot hits the floor the boost ramps up to 31#. The answer is i have to put line locks on the brakes and leave off a button. I can tell the boost controller to make whatever boost i want while staging on the button, then when i hit 100% tps it will run its timed stage out put .In my case 31#. So it looks like i have some line locks to install. With a 1.50 60ft and better air 10.40s will be mine. My afrs where also 10.9:1 and i pulled 2* of timing for a total of 22* I will put the timing back in next trip to the track. Stay tuned.

Line locks may not do what you want them to do, what about an msd 2 step or launch control. Do you have an msd box on your truck already? You could use a trans brake also but shocks the drive line harder which may break things.

Sounds great Frank! I have been contemplating the AMS-500 for my bucket of bolts, but not something I will do until wintertime!

Big stuff 3 has a 2 step. I am going to us it on the new motor with the 91mm turbo to help build boost of the line. For now i need something to tell the boost controller that im staging and allow the waste gate to be closed fully so i can build more than 12 # of boost. With my 18 year old HKS boost controller i was able to launch with 20# and lay down 1.50 60fts. However my boost was all over the place down the 1320. Maybe i will try a trans brake in the new build i intended in freshing up the trans once it comes out anyway.

Re: Atco tonight with auto addictions.

I was thinking of using the following idea in conjuction with my 2-step. It is difficult for me to quickly build boost against the 2-step (set to 3100 RPM) and if I wait to hit the 2-step it is too difficult to find the window to hit the button, then release the botton.

I bought a hobbs switch with an adjustable window off Ebay. Set it for what you want launch PSI to be (for me 5-6 psi). Have it hooked inline with the 2-step.

So.... go to the line and hold 2-step button, floor gas.... PSI comes up very quick until the hobbs switch hits your set point engaging the 2-step and holding launch RPM (and boost).

Should work. I have the hobbs switch and have it set but haven't tested it yet.

Re: Atco tonight with auto addictions.

Someone was telling me some "issues" with BS3 2 step setup, i honestly can't remember what they were. It might have been qbnkiller who i see viewing the thread.

I can tell you I have found my 2step (msd) and 4 wheel line locks are working perfect and made my 60fts go down as well as consistant. I have no issues with spool, and in fact when I decide to turn boost up I think I will have the other issue and have to slow it down via boost controller.

Re: Atco tonight with auto addictions.

the land of 5 bar boost....nice. Is that with the 91mm or have you not put that on yet? Seems like a huge turbo to be running that much boost but "only" seeing mid 10s...are you blowing hot air at that point or something?

Haven t finished the new motor or turbo set up. This is still with stock manifolds pte 72 turbo running threw a full exhaust and RPMs FM intercooler.

Did you install the line locks before of after the proportioning valve. ????

Re: Atco tonight with auto addictions.

I think before, either should work though.

I have my front line lock bolted to master cylinder, the rear line lock and aftermarket prop. valve is under the seat. Prop valve is inside cab so I can adjust it while seated, line lock is inside frame C just below that. Worked out very well I think.
