I ask because I rushed to get my truck back up and running for tomorrow's Hooters meet and no go.. nothing but lovely click click clicking for me!

So I ask how do you figure out what's causing this.. or how can I varify that the purple wire isn't the issue? I'd like to do this before I dick with the starter again because it's not one of my favorite things to do.. plus I checked with a volt meter and im getting a solid 12.3/12.5 volts to the starter power stud.

Here's what i've done previously if this helps at all

Relocated battery in the back... ran all 2 gauge to a flaming river switch.. ran 2 gauge from the switch to the alt and from the switch to the starter.

Stripped the shit out of the positive stud on the starter during this lovely process.. so I had to get a replacement which I did for $80 with a lifetime warrenty :)

Took forever to get it back up in there especially with the 2 gauge cable that doesn't enjoy being bent or shaped in anyway but it got done.

Cut the purple wire above the brake booster and reconnected new 10 gauge wire and ran it to the small peg on the starter since the original purple wire was fried pretty good

Any suggestions or instructions will be greatly appreciated

Take purple wire to a 30amp relay as the trigger, feed 12volts off the firewall post, and run 8 gauge wire or 6 gauge wire from relay to starter solenoid.

Is it out side??? Colder weather starters start to stick. Have a friend tap the starter with a hammer while you crank. 2. Voltmeter wont tell you if the batterys dead put jumper cables on it any way try to start. 3. both power pionts on the starter needs 12v to turn starter ground comes from bolting it to the block. If you need to be sure short the to bolts together with a screw driver see if the starter moves of just some sparks. Try those things.
I hope its not a pep boys starter if so change it im sure its dead.

I had the same issues. I took the starter out, had it tested. It tested fine, but it back in and it worked twice. I pulled it out and tossed it. I replaced my starter with a CVR mini starter and have never looked back. Sounds like a battery issue if you get the click. I would try jump starting it, try another starter or replace the wires to higher gauge.

Sound like the starter solonoid, try jump it with a screwdriver.

Yes the truck is sitting outside :)

soo tomorrow morning I will try the following:

-crank motor while someone checks volts on power stud of starter
-tap the starter some
-run screw driver across both + studs on starter to see some action
-throw a set of cables on the battery and try a jump

Oh not a pepboys battery but a oem replacement

Thanks for all suggestions guys
