Re: Do you still run a front drive shaft loop with Gilbert's shaft?

The same answere "I would guess it would depend on how "fat/thick' the new shaft is. "
Gilbert shaft is a thicker shaft and it probably will be rubbing against the linkage, dynotech shaft I think is stock replacement (same as stock) and will not rub against the linkage.
Now if you have a custom shaft made from a driveline shop and it is much 'thicker' than stock, yes you will have to mod the likage. If its the same size at stock, no you don't have to mod the shift likage.
Correct:
"That's NOT a propshaft."
"THAT'S a propshaft. Transmission range select lever has to be cut and rewelded due to the girth of this shaft (Gilbert). It also has ZERK fittings so that you can grease it on the truck."
Some folks have gotten away with *just* bending the range select lever so that it clears. However, that isn't the *correct* way to install a Gilbert propshaft. Bruce Gilbert includes instructions with every propshaft that he sells that cover the cutting, flattening and rewelding of the lever so that it clears.
With regards to the safety loop, I took my Phil Chiver's one off back in October of 2001 after I got my Gilbert and sold it.
