First time at the track - 6.75@104

Got the Syclone down to the local 1/8 mile track for the first time tonight. Weather was terrible, only got one run in before it got ugly and they shut down. Other than walking so bad I almost ran across the center line all was well. I made my pass with boost set on 23psi -

60ft - 1.546
330 ft - 4.397
1/8 ET - 6.753
1/8 MPH - 104.60

The 60 ft was with very little - almost zero - boost at launch. It pushes through the brakes too easy coming into boost (I'm working on that - Hydroboost here we come).

The tech guy was ok the cage, didn't like the fact that I did not have a remote battery disconnect. He asked me how fast I planned on running - I told him I hoped I could break into the 7's :D He told me I couldn't run faster than 7.5 without a jacket - no problem!

I always did have a problem listening........

I do have a jacket on the way from Summit, BTW.

It has stock Syclone wheels with BFG drag radials. Some wheel spin, but more than anything it is throwing (literally) me to the left really hard. Need to look at the suspension setup.

I think I'm to the point where I can start tuning - I have it running extremely rich and not much timing since I've been working on the turbo and boost control system. I've still got about five more pounds of boost I can throw into her. I was hoping to start that process last night before the rain got to us. This *should* be the slowest it will run unless I break something.

It was just a test and tune night, but it was a blast to drive my truck down there and run faster than a lot of the pro stock cars. They separate the racing into three clases - street tire cars, cars with slicks, and motorcycles. Needless to say, I didn't have a lot of competition from the street tire cars.

Try setting your preload on the Left to like 1/4 turn and put 1.5 rounds or so in the Right. The right rear will be sitting ~1/2 inch higher on the right to throw more weight to the left tire. Made mine go straight as an arrow.

I have some video of the run and will post it when I can. It sure looks like a handful driving it.

It has a stock suspension with fiberglass leaf springs, traction bars, and Rancho adjustable shocks. Thanks for the advice on setting the bars, Phil. I will give that a try.

Gotta love the good old Terre Haute dragway. This announcer was MUCH smarter than the ones I have heard there before, he even recognized that my truck was a S-15 instead of a S-10. Smart guy :p

definitley alot more power to be had in that truck...it was built right...that thing hauls ass...i loved the turbo sound on that video...isnt it cool just sitting there waiting for the other guy to do a big 'ol smoke show while you patiently wait for him? gives you time to mess with the laptop while he wastes his tires away into the atmosphere :D ...awd owns...

what was up with the staging lights calibration? did they just give up on the other dude? i wonder what did the f-body ended up running ....

Thank you for the video, Todd.

I pulled up and went directly to final stage. "Formula Boy" thought he was driving a NHRA dragster and did a burnout completely overshooting the staging lights. I sat waiting. He then backed WAY up and acted like he couldn't find the lights. I sat amused and watched him - only to look back over at my lights and realize they had started my tree without him. So, I went ahead and left so I would get a timeslip.

Not sure what he ran, but in general the street cars in Terre Haute don't pack much of a punch.
