Re: First time to the track EVER , TIPS?!---
Well, It was an experience I must say. I'm sure the date (6-6-6) had a LOT to do with the events that took place. Gee, where do I start?
Left the house twice before ever getting onthe road because I forgot helmets and laptop.
Wen I got there the laptop wouldn't connect through ALDL so I couldn't monitor anything.
For some unknown reason the idle was sticing around 2K again. Thought I had this solved?
FIRST RUN....
Let me just say that the last 300 FT looked a lot like this pic from a recent thread...
The breaks wouldn't hold more than 5lbs. of boost so I took off a little weak.
Everything seemed just fine until I see the finish line... SMOKE everywhere.
I figure I blew a valve cover gasket and it leaked onto the downpipe.
Knock retard and all I ended up with a 13.84 @ 94 see timeslip below.
I checkit out when the smoke clears. Start it back up and no smoke so i figure
blow-by or something and it's all burned off of the DP. I get in line to go again.
About 5 cars from lining up Tony (thank god he was with me) noticed it beginning
to smoke again. Cautious as I am I am NOT taking any chances so I pull off.
Back to the pits where it's smoking a lot again. I pop the hood and look for the leak.
IT"S ON FIRE!!! Holy $hit what do I do now? I blow on it like an idiot and ask a passer-by
for a fire extinguisher. By the time he gets back I got it to go out. Anyway... I called
it a day and decided to go home. Ran back home got the trailer and loaded it up.
Damn! I wanted to log some runs but I didn't know my first would also be my last
Oh well, here's the slip....
