So I got my Gtech pro in today. Took the truck out and did a little run no boost launch. Gtech said I ran a 14.8@100.6

Does that sound about right with no launch?

elevation is 3300ft
73 degrees out

Re: G-Tech Pro

For SyTy's the G-Tech has been very close for some in estimating 1/4mi e.t. and mph; but has also been way off for others.

At the track a miserable e.t. of 14.8 would probably trap around 90mph in a SyTy. And a 100mph trap speed should be good for an et in the 13.0 - 13.5 range. Of course, the best thing to do is just go to the track.

Why didn't you boost launch? That's the funnest part. :)

Thats what I was thinking seeing the 14.8 flash pissed me off but then I saw the trap I figured I should go out tomorrow and do a boost launch and see what I get.

Re: G-Tech Pro

My G-Tech Pro RR is very close to what I see at the track. Much better technology than the old "radar detector style" G-Tech units and has a lot more useful information. About half the time my old unit would error out on launch, but the new one works fine. The included software is a neat toy too. Biggest problem I have with it is keeping it stuck to the windshield.

That's about the right stats for a Ford Lightning :)....they are tricky to launch otherwise but you might be able to get down to a 14.2 or so.

A well-running Sy at your altitude should be able to g-tech 13.8 or so with a good launch.
Anything much less, and I'd be looking for things that are wrong.

Re: G-Tech Pro

Gtech is a good tool, once you get a baseline you will be able to test if it is faster or slower with some confidence. So what if it is a few tenths of a second off what happens at the track. It will still be close and give you a better idea than you and your firends drinking beer and guessing.

How can you get any better idea than drinking beer and BS?

That's why my wife bought me the G-Tech; so I would stop drinking beer and guessing . Not to mention that doing boosted launches with only one hand on the wheel can cause you to spill your beer  .

Re: G-Tech Pro

Alright I'll see if I can get it around a high 13 tonight.

so whats the best way to boost launch? When I raced my buddies 94 Lt1 Camaro it kept pulling through the brakes. :(

I was only doing about 40% throttle and had it in 1st.

I've read some people put it into N and then get the boost up and launch it but I thought that would be really hard on the drive train. :squint:

Re: G-Tech Pro

you can also get alot better launch if you unplug the ABS under the hood while boost launching that would stop it from pulling thru the brakes

Myth. There's absolutely no difference.... the abs doesn't activate unless the vehicle is moving already.

Get on some hard pavement (big parking lot), back up and stop quick a number of times. This will make your rear drum adjusters tighten, if they need to.

Re: G-Tech Pro

I don't see why you don't just use Datamaster. It has always been with in a tenth +/- for me at the track and MPH is with in 1mph. And at the same time, you data log and find problems in your tune or with your truck.

Re: G-Tech Pro

I just found that in dm tonight. I was wondering how well it worked.
Is it just calculated off the recorded log data? speed x mph etc..?
