I became a dad tonight

My beautiful wife gave birth to our first two children tonight. She has been in the hospital for the last week with complications and her water breaking on Sunday (the day of our baby shower) The babies were born VERY premature and we can use your prayers and blessings please. I had spent the entire week at the hospital without leaving once and then finally when they were stable I ran home to take care of a few odds and ends. No sooner do I get home and get in the shower I get a call that I need to rush back that they are going to do a C-Section. just my luck!!!

They were born 14 weeks premature. Stats are as follows:

Reagan: 13 1/4" and only 1lb 8.7 ounces
Riley: 12 1/4" and 1lb 8 ounces

As I said they are 3 months premature but so far so good and everyone, mommy included is healthy. It is going to be a very long and tough road and will be a good 2-3 months before we can bring them home. With premature babies like these it is an up and down road and you never know what is going to happen until you bring them home.

I will post some pics while I can but only ones I have now is with them all hooked up to ventilators so it really is not a pretty sight.

Thanks guys! I just had to post this too excited to sleep and everyone I try to call is sleeping!

Re: I became a dad tonight

thanx bud. yeah its interesting. my gf was looking at one of the statistics of the prego thing and 60% of men while there significant is prego suffer from the same symptoms like they do. Like the whole cravings, mood swings, hot flashes, gaining weight(great im already fat enough) and etc. its crazy and i wouldve never thought many would. like 10-20 maybe 40% at most. she shits there and says ur always on the computer sitting on ur ass and i just tell her im going thru the same symptoms as u honey. god it pisses her off but she laughs and smiles at the same time. she says she wished she never told me that.

Congrats!

My sister-in-law had a son 17 weeks early about 6 months ago and he's perfect. Amazing what technology is out there!

Funny, I was reading your post and thought you went home to do some mods instead of odds....this board is getting to me

My nephews were born the same way. They were three months premature almost the same weight, they are not five years old running around causing havic everywhere they go.

Good luck,

3 months wow. But, the hospitals are getting alot better at caring for premees. Try not to think about all the 'what if's', and know that we are all wishing you the best!

Congrats daddy. If you think the making mommy feel better is over your wrong. You need to be strong for the both of you. Tell her i said congrats. Having kids is a blessing. When they are turning two years old and driving you up the wall. You might not think so. Also please tell your wife and kids you LOVE them as much as possible. This may seem minor but it makes a world of a difference.
God bless your family......especially the little ones
