Left Thirteenville last night...

The weather and my schedule finally cooperated and I got to run my sy at Norwalk Raceway Park last night. I was figuring on a 13.3 or 13.4 pass so, my first pass at 12.9 @ 103 was a shocker . After a cool down period of approximately an hour I then ran a new best of 12.6 @ 105 :D! My new ET is a blistering 1.1 second quicker than I ran at Beaver Springs Dragway in PA three years ago which was the last time that I made a pass... The first pass was with my Ultimate chip set at T1 20 psi. The second was at T2 20 psi. Fuel was a blend of 93 and Xylene. Tire pressure was lowered to 30 psi all around. Here are the numbers from my pass three years ago:

60' 2.063
330 5.720
1/8 8.844/79.13
1000 11.520
1/4 13.778/100.08

And Last night:

60' 1.768
330 5.160
1/8 8.043/85.69
1000 10.530
1/4 12.657/105.47

Some thanks are in order for making this happen... Josh B. has helped me TONS. We met each other through ownership four years ago and have since forged a friendship for which I am VERY thankful.

Another person I am lucky enough to consider a friend (and I only get to see maybe once every other year) is Dave W. Always willing to help out with a problem in any way that he can, albeit always sight unseen.

George B. who rebuilt my transmission and allowed me to get it back on the road after sitting idle for almost two years. The saying "no good deed goes unpunished" fits him like a glove... A true loss to the syty community for sure :(.

Brian G. and Todd A. for their collaboration on the Ultimate chip. Seemed to be thankless endeavor as owners who had problems with the chip due to installing it with a truck not running 100% would badger Brian morning, noon and night :-?

The rest of the PA posse that has been there for wrenchin' and cruisin': Jeremy S. (helped me turn wrenches a lot in the early days when I was still learning), Kurt R. (now a WA resident with 3 trucks, he IS a mad man :p ), Spencer J. (hostess with the mostest: HUGE warehouse for wrenching with gantry cranes that can lift several tons makes fuel pump swaps pretty easy...) Matt W. (never knew what a moster I was creating when I told him how to polish aluminum  ) and Lonny who just got his first truck last month (at my first meet four years ago, he was wrenching harder than anyone there and didn't even own a syty).

Lastly, all those who care enough to take the time to help out other owners as that is what makes syty what it is.

And that's Mike Campbell in a nutshell.

Good times....that 60' helped get you in the 12's.

Hope to see you at the 2004 NE Extravaganza. :D

How bout it?
Kick A$$. Way to go Mike. I am still waiting to get out of the 13's. Some day. My TC still does not lock. Couldn't happen to a better person. Mike use to bring enough tools to work on 4-6 trucks at once. Nice time, keep up the good work.

Definitely a Good Run! Congrats!

Get some good temps and a sticky track, and that 60' can be further improved, which means even quicker ET's! :D

Thanks for the support fellas 8) ! When I ran my truck three years ago, I was a little disappointed with it's performance :-? . Really wanted to turn a low thirteen but, breaking 100 MPH (by the skin of my teeth) was a milestone for me... I made a declaration that I would not run a larger turbo unless I got into the twelves with stock turbo. My reasoning was if I couldn't go fast with the stocker, I had no business bolting up a bigger one  . Now I can get to work fabbing up a downpipe for that PTE stealth turbocharger that has been sitting on my shelf for two months.

Dameon B. and his bud Steve A. are official members of the "PA posse" too :D. Went to my first NATS with them and spent MANY hours wrenching together at Lock Haven back in the day.

Wade S. hope to see you at the extravaganza as well :D ! I know that you play a vital role in syty but, I didn't want to elude to it  ...

Brian E. working behind Norwalk can be a good and bad thing. Good because I can get off work and be at the track in under two minutes. Bad because of what makes it good :-? . We will have to meet up sometime. Lemme know when you think you might come on over.

Good job MC. Your truck is haulin' a**! 8)

Thanks Kurt 8) !

The best part about getting into the twelves almost two months ago was not having to listen to my bosses and coworker talk smack because I drive GM vehicles. My boss has a '68 mach one with a 428 that runs mid thirteens at 105ish. My coworkers "race" stang (one of five that he owns) also runs mid thirteens at 98 ish with a 302 and 2,500 poundish race weight.

When I first started working at my new job four months ago at was telling them about my syclone, they said "oh, you're one of those." I'm like "one of what?" They responded "a chevy lover." My coworker and I kept trying to get to the track to have a "smack down" but, either the track was tied up for an event or the weather was uncooperative. When it finally looked like we were gonna be able to run 'em (after six weeks of waitng) my coworker decided to swap the intake on his race stang due to my prediction (back then) of running low thirteens. That way, he could give me a run for the money and hang with me. I even offered to help him do it if he wanted...

The day finally comes and I drive to his place after work so that we can arrive at the track at the same time and line 'em up and see who's top dog. However, he couldn't get his car started due to a dead battery so, he jumps it and it won't stay running. As a result he decides not to go (turned out to be a bad park/neutral sensing switch). I had already aborted once before and I wasn't going to this time. He wished me good luck and off to the track I went by myself.

The next morning when I see him he asks "so, how did ya do?" I show him my first timeslip and he says "oh, twelve nine... that's pretty quick." I could tell from the look on his face he knew that there was no way he could hang with me. It was kinda like I let all the air out of his ballon. Then I showed him my second timeslip and he said "hmm, twelve six... guess I will have to build up that big block to run ya." The first timeslip let the air out of his ballonn and the second one poked a bunch on holes in it because he knew that there as NO way he could run me down unless a slept at the light.

My second boss exclaimed that they couldn't rip on me anymore since I was top dog. He even went so far as to give my coworker a hard time saying that I was a second quicker than he was and that I have a V6 8) ! Just goes to show there's nothing wrong with being "addicted to torque and traction" :p !
