Just FYI for those with questions, bracket racing, which is what I do, consistency is the name of the game. Not just low ET. With line locks, a 2 step, and proper staging the plan is to make the truck as consistent as possible.

This will help you more than just about anything in syty world. My first outing with the line lock/2 step netted me a .017 light and I won't claim to be one to get killer reation times.

Don what class do you run that allows a line lock and a 2 step to be used on the starting line? most classes that allow a 2 step also allow a transbrake, delay box, and air/elec shifter. The "no electonics" class is very strict to a front wheel only "roll control" and that's about it...

I too am a bracket racer but I don't use my truck. The process of staging my truck, getting a solid brake pedal and getting it up on boost is too hard for me to do consistantly. The truck is very consistant as are my reaction times but if someone quick stages against me I'm done... Can't get it set fast enough as the tree starts coming down. I contemplated a 4 wheel line lock to "fix this" but rules prohibit the use of a 4 wheel line lock in most classes. My truck is fast enough to compete in the electronics class but wouldn't be competitive against 7 second dragsters. I know that because I own/drive/race one that runs 7.1's @ 187... :tup:

Well on Wednesdays it's "Sport Street." Pretty much a "run what ya brung" class but limited to a max of 6 cyls. Weekend ET brackets are a different story. Sportsman which has a 12.00 and slower ET rule. Or PRO which is quicker than 12.00. In pro you can run electronics. Like I said I'll be checking into the whole rules thing and will get back.

Thanks guys. I do race the truck, and I'll double check but I think they're allowed. No different than a trans brake I would think. Electronics like throttle stops, delay boxes, etc are what's out in my class. 2 step IS allowed.

BTW I saw a drive-line deposited on the starting line today due to a trans brake and a sticky track. Actually kinda amazing how often that does happen. Last one was due to a jury-rigged traction bar setup that allowed the axle to wrap and bottom the u-joint.

Thanks for the opinion on the relay, will prolly skip that part. One more thing to wire in and then fail.

Line locks are legit in sportsman classes as far as I know. I have the biondos, which are supposedly rebuildable, although I haven't tried. The Morosos are a good product as well.

Line lock with a 2-step will work well for you, particularly if you wire the 2-step and the line locks to the same switch. Hit the brakes, hold the button down, stomp the gas to the floor, release button... pow!

If you're going to run a line-lock, and a two-step to run in the electronics class you might as well ad a delay box to the mix as well. That will really dial in your reaction times.... If you connect them all off the same button just let go on the first flash of ligh and the delay box will hold on the line lock until the 3rd amber....

I was just reading the NHRA rulebook for division 6 and 7 and depending on the class a 4 wheel line lock is allowed. Out here in Division 1 they are prohibited in the no electronics classes. I would definitely find out the rules for sure for the class you're running. :tup:
