major knock retard at shift points. help?

hello people.

well my Ty is getting tuned now. so far i have like 0 knock. but while it shifts or goes into lockup i get MAYOR KR. near 12KR. my knock sensor is relocated to the lower intake next to the thermostat.
my stock sensor that is on the stock location is broken, and i don't have a spare one to see if i get better readings there, altough i doubt it since it's even closer to the tranny.

Depends on what it looks like. I'd take a look around for a mount or pipe that clangs into something on the shifts.

Just after the shift is the max load point, where it's more susceptible to knock.

Pull 2 degrees at wherever your pulldown RPM is, and also at the max RPM before the shift. If your KR goes down significantly, you'll know it's something real.

it has like 0 knock at 14psi. shift. =>10KR and than goes back to 0. lockup 4KR than back to 0.
i don't get knock at the first shifts. only 4 and lockup.
i have solid mounts as well.
if i do this in D i have less knock.

I hate them stupid sensors,I dont even run one

well..i hate them as well, but it comes in handy when changing timing and feuling etc.
just wonder how did you get it tuned without a KS?

Spark plugs are the only true way to tell... even more detailed than the knock sensor. Outside of a high-speed cyl pressure sensing outfit, that is.

The real sucky thing about our platform is that plug checks are a royal PITA.

ok dumb question what happens if you unplug the sensor. Will it go into a preset retard mode or just not read any knock. I run a Big Stuff 3 in my TY so i never tried this. I dont use the knock option in the BS3 either. Anybody try this???

on a stock ECM it will. it will pull 8% of timing i think.

checked plugs and the wbo2,them knock sensors suck,Its just most guys never check anything they just put the gas down etc,
