Re: Problem with vendors.
well if a vendor doesnt respond back or give you the time you deserve, there are a few others willing to help you out. I would say email is definately a good way to communicate atleast in the early stages of purchasing. Atleast for us, probably 40% of the phone calls go unanswered b/c we are understaffed and if we spent all day on the phone answering technical questions, nothing would ever get accomplished in the shop.. So email is definately a great way to reply back at our convinience and have a paper trail of quoted prices for when you decide to actually order the parts.
My only suggestion when emailing, is to try and be as specific as possible. Whether you are looking for prices on a specific part number or a quote on an engine rebuild, the more information you provide will only help in providing you with an accurate quote that does not inflate 110% by the time you are done building your motor.
I dont see any reason why a vendor would completely ignore your emails (atleast they could say they dont have time or the desire to help you) so it is possible the emails are just not reaching them.
