Race Wars AZ 2015

I'l have to admit, I thought it was only in "The Fast n Furious" movies, But after seeing a trailblazer chaperone/camera vehicle with Race Wars stickers all over the side of it(they were following around a slammed VW Golf), while I was taking pics a couple weeks ago of my truck, I decided to google it and see if it was real, and sure enough it's legit. Then I saw this thread recently http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=102267 and was curious if any of the AZ SyTy's might be attending this weekend, kinda short notice if you don't know about it, and kinda pricey if you ask me. http://www.racewarsarizona.com/events.html

It's only 6 hours away, lets go!

If i had a car trailer, I'd be pretty interested in going.

Huh. I go by Gila Bend airport several times a year while traveling to/from Tucson. Trivia: There is a pair of RF101 Vodoos on permanent display at the entrance. April is about the only month of the year I'd want to be outdoors all day in Gila Bend. It's hot and dry out there. I don't know if the wind blows frequently out there or not. The wind blowing 15-20 all day can wear you down, and yer car gets all dusty.

It is a little pricey, but that and the fact it's a ways to travel keeps the riff-raff down, and you get more runs for your money, because there are fewer attendees. Reading the site, the rules, etc, it reminds me of the Mojave Mile deal I attended last year when Don W came down and ran his truck. It was laid-back, fairly quiet, and a friendly atmosphere. The wind came up in the afternoon, and people thinned out quickly. But that's the Desert.

I wonder if Dabney is on the timing team for AZ like he was for Mohave?

I'd be interested in going as a group of 4-5 SyTy's with a little more notice. I have an enclosed trailer. Wouldn't be the first time I sat in my lawn chair in it with the door down to get out of the wind, rain or sun. If they do it again, lets try to put a group together.

I think a few guys from my truck club are attending. Don't think anyone is participating all though it was talked about. I will be in Mexico all weekend. In for next year.

Dave, great viewpoint on the pricing perspective, I think the last time I went thru Gila Bend that far south I was in diapers, every year I travel to Tucson also, was just there in Dec, I usually just take Interstate 10 to the Buckeye cutout(interstate 85) to bypass Phoenix on my way to Tucson. I'd definitely be in for a caravan in the future, Damian and I have spoken about this too, just not sure of future dates. They had an event before in Palmdale, but that was back in '02, and LACR has since closed, sucks that most the local tracks are closing.

Static, I'm not sure if it's an annual thing, do you? I know they choose random locations and alternate to put different cities on the map, maybe ask your truck club buddies if they can get any info regarding future dates.
