Its not PERFECT...def needs some minor bodywork...and PAINT. frame is straight and clean. The cladding is worth more than the rest of it really. The cladding is being prepped for paint right now so it willl be mint. Cladding would easily sell for about $2000 so i'd prolly let the whole thing go for $2250.
Mind you this is a SHELL. no dash, seats, motor, tranny , xfer case, drive shafts, front/rear brakes. Its a project in a box, and my black ty itself is a project. It has front and rear diff's and axles, that about the extent of driveline it has.

smells good to me, let me see if i can find a garage i can rent out for a few months.. Give me till this weekend, and as for the claddings.. to be honest those will prob get taken off in favor for some fiber glass fenders and what have you.. dont really want to bash the crap out of them..
And paint is the last of my worries..
Let me mull it over and see if i can find a small shop i can rent out to store it in (i hate apartments)

Im not looking for a wrc contender here, just a vehicle that will
Sound bad ass bombing up or down a stage
Be competitive (some races have factory sponsored teams..)
Be one of a kind
Make a decent amount of power
Hold up to the abuse (dont care what you say but a truck will handle the jumps, dips, and other crap alot better then any car ever will, as evidence by this last rim where 40 cars were DNF'ed for various reasons, all the trucks made it..)
here was one of the trucks that was doing bad ass..

i personally dont think a ty will be to top heavy, only issue would be if i get into a sticky situation.. which to be honest can happen in even the cars.. (had two cars flip this last rally, none of the trucks did )

that one was in souther california out near lancaster.
There are three that are held in cali, the rest are held all over the place.
And its not much of a team at this point, just a shop car, a few garage monkeys and myself.
Basicly its just for fun, while i want to be competitive i dont have the ability to dedicate all the vacation days needed to hit up all the USRC races

Im confused, if you are going to take off the cladding, put a different motor, suspension and driveline, why not just get a POS blazer for $500 and call it a day? Not trying to be a NAZI but I just dont see why you would even bother with a SY or TY even if you were going to just do susp. That cladding will get torn to pieces. I would atleast get a different front bumper for it when you do go race it. Just my opinion.

Prob wont take the cladding off so long as i can get a proper suspension under it.. I may go with some fiber glass claddings that i wont feel bad chopping up a bit. I DONOT want to chop up some stock claddings.
And alot of things will get torn to peices.. mainly the skid plates
Dont know we will see how it all plays out at this point it is in planning stages.. Still have a boat load of research to do. But so far the price point is right, the replacement parts price is right. The only thing i dont like is that i dont have one

Nope...
The reason i want to do this with one of these is three fold.
I love the sy/ty's i wanted one since i was young.
I think it would be kick ass to have a properly setup ty running rallys and being competitive (+10 for being the only one racing a ty)
I think that it wont be to hard to get it setup proper, and be a ROCK SOLID platform
My main reason is this is an excuse to kill two birds with one stone.
