So I went to the track the 27th aug, I only got one run in but I ran a
15.2 @92mph, this was a NO BOOST launch, as a matter of fact i staged and built the brake vac and the tree was already goin so instead of losing $20 (my bet on the race) I left the line caught the rx8 ~1000' I was in od too!

I am running a hy35 holset turbo which i hate, its hard to build boost on the line because i am running a stock converter, any suggestions for next friday?

they try to push as many car through as they can, so slower trees arent really an option.

how much boost are you running??

sounds like it needs a tune up, and while your at it a compression check too. just trying to help.
when does it really start to spool up??

ohhhhhh ok i didnt know your state of tune. sorry

anyways, then i say ultimate ....ultimate ....ultimate... ultimate......

i have it and i notice a major difference.

also if its spooling at 3000- 3200 i would at least get a 2500-3000 stall

i know what your going through i need a stall too i have a pte 52 with a stock converter, and mine doesnt spool till around there, or a little lower

DO NOT even consider getting an ultimate chip until you figure out what is wrong with your truck! If you have ANY problems and you put the Ultimate chip in, it will make your problems MUCH worse. You definately have some MAJOR issues going on if you are running 15's :-? ...

I have a Hughes Performance 3K stall converter on my truck with stock motor and stock turbo and I love it. I can go from 15 inches of vacuum to 15 pounds of boost in under one second 8) ... Either way, something is terribly wrong with your truck. I wouldn't race it anymore until you get it figured out.

The truck is running the best it has since i bought it. i didnt get any boost on the line and it was in OD.
I take a lot of pride into making sure that it is running right before i race it. i had a friend even put his wide band on to make sure i wasnt running to lean or rich, it does run a little rich but nothing to be hugely concerned about.
I really ment this thread as a laugh because most of my 1/4 time is driver error not the truck, I just wanted a little imput on how i should go about my next race as a better driver. And how I can get a better time with the lights being so fast.

I know that I NEED a stall, and I am saving for a FAST system. I want to be able to tune it my self not reli on a preprogrammed chip.

thanks for the concern though, I learned my lesson on running a crappy running truck last time, ask my #1 cyl :-?

well, are they allowing for burnouts? if so, get to the line quickly and you should have plenty of time to Todd Austin the thing.

If the track that he runs at is like the one by me, they have you do your burnout while the other two cars are sitting at the tree. After the other two cars are on their way, you get to pull up and stage. So, you don't have the luxury of doing the Todd A. trick :-? .

yah thats pretty much the way it works, I am going to try and race a friend in a stick that'll let me get staged and start build ing before he pulls in.

Heck, maybe I lll remember to put it in drive this time!

I am still laughing at myself, I have read up on the official launch and practiced it a ton on back roads but when it comes time to really do it I cant.

damn man.. my truck is out of tune and can't hold boost at the line at all (fixed) and I still managed to run consistent 13.6s and a 13.8. I don't have the slips no more because it was at the begining of the year. I think the mph was like 97mph on stock boost with 93 octane, 2k on cap/roter and atr plugs.

My track 4700' that might make a small diff, and hopefully i wont have to shift back down into drive from od at the 1200' that alone has to be worth 3 tenths.

My Sy ran a 15.8 when I got it. Now it runs 13.0 at 102. I had to change just about everything.

Our track up here in utah sucks. Heres a trick, when you get to the tree do your thing and only pre stage. Then start building boost, then when you've got it to the point you want creep forward into the stage lights. The nhra correction factor is almost a full second for n/a cars and almost .5 a sec for turbo/sc cars. Plus for some reason I can't ever seem to build boost at the line there either. My last run on the big 28 in my last car (which has also given me a 14.3 sec 1/4 time on a good cold day) was a 16.6 at 88. my 60' time was 2.7 seconds, and I got beat out of the hole by somthing like a fwd geo prizim(too bad I still won the fucking race with a 16.6).
