Re: tc lock up

Yes, the truck won't lock the converter until it shifts into second gear. I flip my manual lockup switch soon as I pre stage at the track. After I go through the traps, I flip my lockup switch off and shift into OD so that I don't annhilate the overrun clutches. I have mine above my headlight switch so that I can get to it easily.

Stab it and steer it
Re: tc lock up

I don't FWIW. Just launch on D not OD shifting to OD when I let up. I've raced with the TC locked and shifts are pretty severe. I didn't like it. Probably shaves a tenth or 2 off though.

Re: tc lock up

How do you wire it, to the OBD?

Correct, the "A" and "F" pins on the ALDL port to be exact. You can see which pins are which here. No doubt locking your TC is HARD on your transmission and WILL result in a rebuild sooner rather than later. On my truck, I drop .2 of a sec with it locked. My bud with a *very* loose 9/11 TC drops .5, yes half a second, when he locks his. YMMV. As Don W. said, launch in D not OD because there is more line pressure in D and it's easier on the transmission.
