This would vary depending on the heads and cam you were using, but on a stock truck
I'd recommend locking at the 1-2 shift. This has been good for at least .1 on every truck I've tried it on, and .3 at the best.
I've seen numerous built trucks slow down when locking the converter.
Easiest way is to paper clip between the two outside terminals on the top row of the
ALDL connector.
