unpainted cladding vs. painted

Here's my 2 cents. I have a good friend with a Sy in the town next to mine. His Sy has painted cladding which looks better than mine. But I prefer to keep mine unpainted due to its resistance in unpainted form to get chipped up. You see I drive the Sy, to many SyTy folks' horror, in alot of snow, salt, and cindered roads.... (I coach a ski team, and ski instruct..so does the wife).... But I like the shine too.... I've found it tuff to keep the unpainted cladding shiny.... But I keep trying... I've been experimenting with tire gel (which has harmful petrol distillates-but yeah well) it seems to work great sometimes as does black magic.... seems to shine better on clean cladding (recently hand washed and dried).. I got two sections very very glossy and non-sticky today with a combo of black magic and tire gel ... but can't seem to reproduce it...wierd.. I may try the shoe polish on a section.... and yes I am very cheap/thrifty...

What kind of compounds do you use? I have a wheel and it's time I restore my cladding up a bit.

I just tried Trim Shine (by Stoner) on my unpainted black '92 Ty cladding, and it does a sensational job -- looks better than new. Spray it on a cloth, and rub it in thoroughly. It removes minor scuff marks and leaves a high-gloss shine.

Hmm, yours would be factory painted anyways, wouldnt it? Cuz its a Ty.
The cladding on my Black '92 is not painted. I've tried several things, most recently Kiwi paste shoe polish. Worked pretty good, seems to be holding up well (3 weeks so far). I also like black liquid shoe polish mixed in with Black Chrome.
