Unsprung weight

I was wondering about some ways to reduce it besides CF driveshaft, and coil overs. I guess propshafts can not be made of CF because of the amt of material needed. What brake set ups would work to really lower it , and could you guys kick me a few other ideas to get it down. TIA

Re: Unsprung weight

how far are you willing to go? arp wheels studs are lighter then factory, what suspension do you have? steel wheels are lighter the factory, aluminum calipers (ssbc makes them) if you are running the aftermarket susp systems penske makes remote shocks that move alot of weight. dumoing the abs and swapping the hub to a non abs hub saves some (loss of exciter ring, dust shield and wiring)

Re: Unsprung weight

Seats are said to weigh in around 50lbs a peace, then there's the spare tire, jack carpet insulation, ac, abs, tailgate etc..

Re: Unsprung weight

glass hood and fenders. carbon fiber tailgate, gut the interior, move the battery to the back.remove the sway bar. im lookin at this as if you were gonna drag race it and keep it on the track not the road

All the above is "sprung" weight.

Not that it wouldn't help to remove/mod these.

I know lower unsprung and sprung weight is beneficial, but what are you reason/goals for doing this? Reduce weight isn't the easiest(cost effective) way to run 12's or even 11's in a Syclone.
