Hi SyTy folks. So I've lingered on this site on and off for years, never really had anything to contribute. But these are such cool lil trucks and hopefully I'll own one of my own someday. I've owned a few s series over the years and they're a lot of fun. My turbo project if finally making some headway and I'm really excited to start making boost by the end of the year. My truck is a 2002 2wd scsb 5 speed. I've had it for along time and have somehow managed to not do much to it. until last year when i bought a house and parked it in the basement where i decided to tear the whole suspension apart to do a long travel suspension of sorts. Ended up selling off the suspension stuff and have switched gears towards a budget turbo build. I've been collecting parts for a bit and now starting to tear into it! here are a few pics where i am now.
I got some replica syty manifolds from ebay and a rebuilt syty turbo with billet compressor wheel and ceramic coated hot side from Tony Parsons off of the FB group.
I will be sending the manifolds/crossover to be ceramic coated as well.

I scored this 2114 manifold with injector bungs already installed, that a guy had in his garage for 10+ years. He could not find the fuel rails tho so I will have to source some or drill some of my own (anyone have insight on this?). I just bought the 50lb injectors from Goodjollyjosh to get me going.

for now i plan on using the factory throttle body using a Holley 4150 elbow and an adapter if i am able to. I'll be cleaning up the wiring and using the stock 0411 ecu and tune with HPtuners. Also leaning towards a air to water intercooler. Does anyone have a downpipe they'd sell??

i picked up my dream seats last week. I'm pretty excited about them. They sit a little low for my short self but they're very comfortable

Any questions/thoughts/criticism please feel free. I am eager to learn as much as possible

Sir,
Welcome aboard!!!!! Look me look up stairs and see if I still have a stock down pipe if I do Hell you can have it. If I don't have one I would bet someone here will donate it. Keep us posted on your Project.
Thanks,
Bob

I've got them mocked up now. i dig them. My cousin also brought me a decent set of zq8's in exchange for a set of c4 sawblades i had. they've always been one of my favorite oem wheels

Thanks! Right now I am saving money for the next big purchases. I guess i will send my intake off and have fuel rails and mounts made. Just gonna be pricey. I just don't know if i wanna risk buying a $100 drill bit and rail material to try to make my own. I am going to be upgrading my fuel pump, still need to buy a intercooler and plumbing, exhaust, a few other odds and ends, and finally buy a laptop and hptuners.

So I have been doing some reading about running these trucks with the cat removed with the stock wastegate causing boost creep or overboosting. Are there ways to combat this with the stock wg? or am i just better off spending the money and running a high flow cat? thanks

Finally, a little update! I got a holley 2.5 bar map, LS throttle body elbow and a screw in style IAT. Waited a month for the elbow to get here due to being backordered. It's probably gonna need an inch or so spacer to clear the rails when I have some made really soon.IMG_20210427_175608257.jpg

Also, do you guys think mounting the IAT sensor in the manifold here will be okay?? (Not installed all the way)

Now I can start planning my plumbing and wiring and hope to hear this thing start up in the next few months!

The end of the sensor has to be in the airflow path. The stock location is directly across from the throttle body inlet, so flow is always against it. In your pic, the sensor end isn't exposed to airflow. It is shrouded by the manifold. So it is going to be representative of the manifold's temperature, not the air within it.

I'd also be looking at that crimped almost-flat fuel line. That appears really restrictive.

Thanks, that's what I was figuring, It is not screwed in all the way tho, it would probably come most of the way through once fully installed. As for the fuel line, I am probably going to end up using my stock supply line as the return and run a new -6 supply line

So I decided to make a cold air intake for my truck in a way I've not seen before. I am not sure how I will construct the scoop or airbox yet. It'll be subtle yet functional, hopefully. Nothing much else new on the build, really. I have a NOS downpipe on the way. Other than that, just trying to save funds for fun. My original plan was to go a2w intercooler but now thinking I'll go a2a for cost.IMG_20210515_192039490.jpgIMG_20210515_192058350.jpgIMG_20210515_192048744.jpgIMG_20210516_120002292.jpg

Downpipe is in!! Still needs a bit of creative clearancing. Manifolds and downpipe will be sent to ceramic coating soon. Also got myself a mostly straight, rust free doner truck for $300 because mine has had a rough life.. Turns out a 2.2 throttle cable is just the right length for the new intake set-up. The stock one was 6+" too long and was gonna be very awkward.

Lookin' good man! Nice to see that you're making progress. Looks like your downpipe isn't as tight of a fit as the syty's, it's one of the things I hate about this truck.
