(Reference) Smog Requirements By State

As each State is different with smog testing and some states have different testing by counties, can we have people list what is used for testing where they live? Here in Riverside County, CA they use a dyno that you drive on for a 2 part testing procedure. If you have AWD, then the testing procedure is a 2 part test done at Idle and at 2500 RPM with the transmission in park. Can you list the Testing Standards where you live? TIA.

MA is done the same way. Idle & 2500 RPM for AWD, rollers for 2wd. Smog emissions is done every other year depending on wht year you car was built. Safety inspection is done every year.

Safety inspection ? What do they do for that? Do they tear your truck down and you get to put it together again? :dunno:

On the Calif chart see where Sonoma County ends about 1/2 way up? That's about 3 miles north of where I live. Truck will move to 10 miles north of that this year.

Well...you're supposed to have a physical address of where the truck is at, but I know of someone that has successfully used just a PO box. So just do the change of address before the reg. expires & you should be good to go.

reg. expires in 2 months. I dont have to show proof that I live there. Would I have to reg. all my cars up there.? I plan on moving or buying some property in oregon soon and I can use that address but for this year I need to figure something out.

No you don't have to reg. all vehicles in one location.
No proof, just an address. Like I said, location of the vehicle & a mailing address if they're different.

Here in the great state of New Hampshire, all my toys are emissions exempt  .... they only test OBDII vehicles, and those they do via computer diagnostic. So basically anything pre-1996 gets a clear flag

No testing here in Indiana at all, Thank God!!!

We use to have down here in southern Indiana, Clark county, but it is gone starting this year. Also I thought the counties around chicago had emissions? Thank goodness it is gone what a PITA!

The only state that cares about smog/emissions is California. You aren't getting much of an answer as many states don't have any kind of requirements. There are other states that follow CA, but overall not that big a deal for most.

An idle and 2500 rpm test is such a joke. It really doesn't show much. We would honestly be better if we could run on the dyno. Loads and turbo cars.
