well, #180 is done, stick a fork in it

bad storm rolled through town today, for those who dont know i relocated my truck over to my friends place to make some room in my yard.

well today while i was working, the big tree in the yard got struck by lightning, my truck and one of the other guys ford ranger were parked by it.

the tree has to come down now cause its split (this tree is over 3 stories tall), so my buddy moved his truck, his dash is lit up like a christmas tree, every idiot light is on, but it runs.

my ty... well the check engine light is on, it will fire off of eather, but dispite having fuel pressure and the pump working, it could only keep it running very roughly for about 3 mins. i dont have my laptop nor do i really care at this point.

stick a fork in it, its done.

so the tree fell on the trucks? or lightning just ruined all of the electronics?

edit: I get it the electric pulse, ruined everything.. sorta surprising.. but damn that sucks.. sorry to hear.. need a spare ecm to swap in and see if it works?

Sounds like the lightning strikes was close enough to frazzle anything with moving electrons.

They had to move the trucks to take the tree down.

Ever think of just leaving the Ty sit and and drop the tree on it accidentally?
Whoops did i say that outloud?

Hey it already has a salvage title so it wouldn't be a HUGE loss. right?

I know a Corvette owner who's car was struck by lightning, he tried fixing it but most of his electronics were fried. He gave up on it. I guess atleast your Ty sort of runs so some electronics work.

Dang Morgan! I hate to hear that! Maybe it just got the fuel pump $ didn't fry the whole wiring. I've never had that happen with a vehicle, but I have a well & lightening ran in on the motor & fried the pump. Not cheap(over $1100 to replace well pump!) I would kinda think comprehensive insurance would cover that...good luck!

ahh morgan, sorry to hear that, well you've got other projects going on now. let me know if i can help at all.

Re: well, #180 is done, stick a fork in it

that's rotten luck for sure. :( but yeah, like Renz said, now you have no Typhoon excuse to pull you away from the LS2BMW

if it was still insured it might. I pulled that at the end of june when the registration ran out.

dude you have no idea. On top of the trucks gettin fried, the lighning traveled through the roots and hit the foundation of the house. It cracked some of it and blew the wooden frame for the basement window into toothpicks as well as the glass. I had unpluged the computer, however I didnt have time to get to the monitor. I thought the monitor itself was fried, but turns out it ended up frying the video card in the computer instead.

So yes, that shit travelled through anything it wanted to today

again, if it was only insured, i would have yanked the stereo stuff out of it and said good luck to it

yeah some of the stuff works, i just dont know what got killed. its breaking up REALLY bad, and the more gas you give it, the RPMs just drop, the only way I even got it above 3000 was to pump and feather it, but holding it there didnt make it sound happy.

the pump works, I can hear it and im still getting 38 PSI before it runs. Now weather it got screwed up enough to keep running, who knows. Eventually ill toss the laptop on it when i get inspired.

Were you going to drive it to NATS? :(
no, Im driving the Celica to nats

MikeRenz said:
Wait...maybe this just means you should buy the DUCK
no money and Im not looking for another truck. The only reason Im bummed about it not running is because now I have to fix whatever is wrong with the drivetrain before I sell it on eBay :D
