My TY cranks but won't start. Need help Please

Hello, :(

I bought a TY last week and I took it out for a ride last Friday and it left me stranded. I jumped on the freeway, stomped on it to see what it would do, and actually got it up to 80MPH when she quit running. I had to tow her home. Engine cranks but won't start. I did notice that the Red "Check Gages" light flashes (& continues to flash) when the ignition is opened. Fuel pump is not kicking on either but I ran direct current to it and it works. Checked for spark and it does have spark, so I ran down the check list from ALLData for diagnosing the fuel pump & relay and it tells me I need to replace the ECM (computer). Has this happened to any of you? Is it really my ECM? If so, does anyone have one for sale? I live in Chi-town. Try swapping the fuel pump relay with the ac relay.. takes two seconds and doesn't cost a thing.. you'll see the two relays above the brake booster.. that's them.

the "check gauges" light most likely means that your oil pressure gauge is low or isn't moving.. possibly could point you in the direction of a bad oil pressure switch which I believe you'll have what your describing but donm't qoute me on that try doing a search here on the forum for it and see what you come up with.

Sounds like a bad ECM to me. But what was mentioned you should check first. I have replaced 2 ECM so far.

Thanks for the info. I will try swapping the relays this afternoon. I did find that the ECM fuse was blown so I replaced it and was able to confirm that power was flowing correctly to relay. Pump still did not fire up and not getting the 2 seconds of juice when ignition is turned on. I have verified that the pump is OK by sending direct current to it. Pump is OK.

Another Q: Is there also a "check engine" light that should light up? I only see the check gauges light up. Is that another indicator that the ECM may be bad? Any suggestions as to where I should purchase my ECM, if confirmed bad.

By the way, the Ty that I purchased is # 1523 (1992) blk on blk. It has 94K on it.

ECM is cheap... underdash passenger side.. remove all 7m bolts for underdash cover.. 1 7mm holds it in a lil bracket.. pull it down.. local parts store should have one.. try it if no different return it :)
