Why does this truck suck?

I just went out and did my first 1/4 blast and recorded it on DM. I checked to see what I ran afterwards with a VERY disappointing 13.4@99. I like the mph, best Ive ever seen but 13.4? Im ready to slit something here I swear. The DM file looks(IMO) amazing, barely any knock at all, mainly on the shifts. 60' blows, 1.9? I really thought that with the alky Ild do a high 12 on one of my first runs. I have been tuning it here and there over the past few weeks and thought it was really running well. The thing that makes me uber mad here is that my best time w/o the alky was a 13.4@93? Maybe there was an error somewhere but the run looked awsome. So anyway, Im not sure what to do with this thing. I guess I could turn up the boost, I left it at 18psi. Still, think it should be faster even on that. 18psi w/o the alky was getting me 13.7 and 13.6's.

Alot of it's gonna be your 60' Mikey.

Cut a 1.7 ish and you should be right there. Maybe your launching too hard (just spinning your tires), or you need to drop your air pressure down (try the high 20's).

If all you do is add alky, and don't adjust the timing or the boost. Why would you expect it to run any differently? All you've really done is richened the mixture a little and cooled the air a little. 13.7 to 13.4 you say?.......Three tenths seems like a decent gain for not really changing much about how the truck runs. Bump the timing a degree or two (or the boost a psi or two) and go make a run. Record what happens. Lather, Rinse Repeat until you run those high 12's you're wanting, or break something.

I don't know if you have determine your axle/drivetrain isues, but that might be a source of major driveline losses.

Re: Why does this truck suck?

18psi......... Lower the launch psi till it hooks then try again. Dm is going off of wheel speed and you are probly slower than what it said because of the wheel spin throws off the distance.

Re: Why does this truck suck?

I had 0 wheel spin on the run last night. I have timing up at 22psi. One thing I noticed on my way home is that the truck seems to like to launch a little harder when I leave the line just as the psi starts to climb fast, if that makes sense. I am going to try and leave right when it seems it is spooling its fastest. That run I did last really did feel slower than what the truck has been doing lately, but the top end felt good. I also had to pull a bunch of fuel, at first I got a lot of knock and after I did that damn did it come on. It seems to really like about 11.5-11.9 afr and I have struggled to get it there, when it is there it is usually a certain temp outside. Then, when it changes, I get my idle and cruise to stay at the proper AFR's but WOT goes out the window, last night for example it was mid to low 10's. As much as I wanted to open up F31M, I know that I have spent hours upon hours with that table to get it right and if I make the change, it will screw everything up for when I get those lower temps outside. So I guess my goal is start turning up the boost. Ill report back tonight more than likely.

I will try that, I actually launched at 17. I have tried lower psi in the past and sometimes its better and sometimes its not. My best 60' ever was a 1.77. My truck really has no traction issues so I have always launched it like that and my normal 60 is 1.8. I was watching the mph after launch and oddly enough, it goes from 17(REC1) and REC2, is 16mph, then REC3 is 23? I wondering if maybe I need to get rid of the hop? I have noticed it a little but it just usually hops very little, and only once but I thought it wouldn't be a big deal. Maybe time for some battle bars?

Re: Why does this truck suck?

Yep the mph going up then down is wheel spin. And damn 17mph on the first record!!! I 60" on average 1.52-1.54 and my first log is usually only 7-8 mph. What sample rate are you using?

Drive about 250 miles east. Repeat your tests. 3000 feet of elevation loss will make a big difference.

You're also trying to compare runs on completely different days. Futility.
Start recording the air temp, humidity, and baro on the days you make runs, and it'll make a lot more sense.

Why would you think alky would be faster, given the same amount of boost? Unless you had loads of knock retard before...

You'll be out of the compressor map of that turbo soon at your altitude. It'll start dramatically heating up at 22 psi +
