1995 S-10 to Syclone Conversion?

i would like to do a motor swap on my 96 s-10 blazer 4x4. i have already beefed up the rear end using a detroit locker and lower gears with new axles and the works. has anyone ever done a swap with the sy/ty motor into the newer body style?? i do not want to just put the new body on the old frame but rather just drop in a sy/ty motor. i have had some troubles finding them, so any help would be nice. also is it possible to just start with my v6 block and go from there. can i use my vortec heads?? and if i can just start pulling my motor apart and putting on sy/ty part what will i need. i have the 700r4 tranny in the blaze right now but is that going to stand up?? any help from anyone would be great. thanks

I'll be nice and throw out the basic answers. Search will give you details.
The 96+ Vortec heads will not work on a stock SyTy engine. You have to do some work on either the heads or the intake to make them line up. They're better heads, but they're not a direct swap.
The SyTy engine uses the standard LB4 (TBI) block. It has nodular iron main caps and lower compression ratio (8.3:1 I think) pistions. Other than that, it's a standard TBI engine.
Both SyTy's and regular S-trucks have the 700R4. The SyTy version is built more like a Corvette or F-body version though. Not exactly though - it's unique to the SyTy. There are tons of stories of tranny shops building "bulletproof" trannies that'll take 600hp. Within a week the SyTy is immobilized again. The torque that our engines make combined with the AWD puts huge amounts of stress on the tranny. Basically, if it's not built for a SyTy, it won't last. Simple as that.
