2-Step Rev Limiter

Great product when used properly but can mean disaster if abused... so I've read. For those using it, care to share your experiences? How about your settings for stock, modified and over-the-top builds?
How about your gains? Disadvantages?
Would you rather use a shift light?
How well does it get along with an EBC?
How does it affect alcohol injection if at all?

I have one on my sy (msd 6al-2) and I disconnected it and went back to the stock ign. I never could get rid of a slight sputter at top end, and the stock ign. seems to run better. I didn't find the two step feature particularly useful, and I found I can launch better off the foot brake and building boost up to my final stall of 3000 rpm. I did leave the box in the truck just for looks. I had mine wired to the cruise control "set" button, and I think there is a write up on here somewhere about how I did it. Overall, I don't think it is worth the money over the stock ign. and foot braking. I do have dual line locks that I may go back to using at some point in the future, though.

Well worth it, less effort with the brakes especially when using h boost setup. Makes the truck consistent And can tune the launch.

I like my MSD 6al2. I have mine wired into the cruise control set button also, so I can keep both hads on the wheel. Sure helps to keep the launches consistent. But as you can see I was having traction problems.

I am going to be wiring mine up soon and trying it (fast xfi has the function built in). I like the cruise set switch idea as well. I have no problem building boost if anything it comes up too quick. I mainly want to try it for consistency.

Re: 2-Step Rev Limiter

I have a very small alarm momentary button on my shifter and it works well,as I manually shift mine

Stab it and steer it
Re: 2-Step Rev Limiter

I've used a 6AL w/2step for a number of years. Primarily as a "consistency" control. I have a removable launch button on the steering wheel. Works very well. In addition I have two line locks. Although I don't launch at a very high RPM, usually 2k or so, the trick is to be consistent in bracket racing which is what I do.

No real issues. Sounds like crap when I rev with the button pushed. I'm still experimenting on how to launch with the new build. Using a stock coil. I use the "plug n play" wiring for quick change over if something fails, which it hasn't. 6k "pill" for rev limit, but never got there. I also use the MSD adjustable pill for launch RPM selection which allows for small changes. Very handy, highly recommended.

Here's a pic of my launch button. Clamps on for racing, rides on top of the dash the rest of the time.
