. Knowone wants to be a dick, but its just a common asked question with the same repetitive answer...buy a syty instead.
which is a stupid answer. this isnt the classifieds section. this isnt the syclone trucks for sale section. its the conversions section. right? for people wanting to convert some other type of vehicle to syty running gear. the guy came here because thats what he wants to do, if he wanted to buy a phucking syclone, hed be in the classifieds section. you people need to get off yer high phucking horse, or stay out of this section.
to answer the question. the conversion is not that hard, and it isnt that expensive. syclone guys just get all whiney because they think they are this elite group of people because they own part of an ill-fated 80's fad.
1st. converting a 2 wheel drive s10 to 4wd IS very difficult, and not worth even trying. youd be best off starting with a 4wd frame. the front suspension is completly different. so, this part of your plan is not too realistic, unless you can find a 4wd frame or rolling chasiss, there are some on ebay every now and then.
2nd. turbo charging your 4.3 is the easy part. you first need to decide what kind of power you want to shoot for. if you want good bang for the buck, 300-350 whp, you wont have to do too much....more than that, you are looking at some engine work, and some more serious fuel system modifications.
try to get yourself a set of syty exhaust manifolds for starters. the will fit your engine and chassis perfectly. you can use a stock syty turbo, or an upgraded one, you will need a front mount intercooler of some sort, because the stock syty ones are a joke, and not worth the hassle of plumbing the whole system to work properly. for the fuel system, at low boost levels, you are going to want at the very least to upgrage your fuel pump, either by getting a bigger one in the tank, or adding an inline unit. you will need to also get yourself a boost referencing fuel pressure regulator, meaning its going to add 1psi of FP to each psi of boost. with a good intercooler, and more fuel, you woupld probably be pretty safe running 10-12psi or less of boost on pump gas. this would probably add 100-150 more hp to your truck. add a turbo specific camshaft, for a even more power. you will also need to have your truck's computer tuned to modify the fuel, and timing. the timing is very important, because it will requre a very different curve than your NA motor. your transmission may need to be upgraded, but your stock rear end should be up to the task. a simple setup like this could probably be had for 2-2500$, not including labor. so, probably a little cheaper, but more involved than slapping on a a parasitic supercharger that offers very little in upgradeability.
If you are looking for somehthing a little more serious, you are going to need to look into some lower compresion, forged pistons, good quality bottom end fasteners, rods, crank, bigger injectors, or even a completely different intake manifold setup, with fuel rails, and big throttle body. with forged internals, some head work, bigger turbo, more boost, and the other necessary parts, 450-500 whp is within reason.
