to go from 2wd to 4wd would be a bitch.....do a frame swap if you're really set on this....it's not a big deal at all....you'll save yourself alot of trouble and they're not that hard to find....if you have a 4wd frame and want to go 2wd, thats alot easier and gives you great oilpan removal access....;)

ok heres the deal i have a 85 s-10 that use to be 4wd but it is 2wd now because the prevous owner my cousin blew the front differental and one of the axles. i then swaped a 4.3 in place of the old 2.8 and but a 700r4 with a b&m shift kit behind it and i am wandering what it would take to acually make it awd, or if im just wasting my time and should keep it 2wd.

in my opinion AWD is worth it, but where i live you need 4wd or AWD to get around in the winter. if you plan on building the engine up i'd go for the AWD, if not then just leave it be. or if you go offroading then swap 4wd back in (or replace the broken pieces to reassemble it as 4wd).

either way it's not hard to do since you already have a 4wd frame (the hardest part of the conversion)

well that is good news to me, see my problem is that i cannot get traction to save my live, so im hoping by converting it to awd that i won't have that problem, i spent about 5 grand on the engine, i wanted and still want to turbo the engine but that is out of the question.
