Re: 32 spline BW4472 input shaft GP runs through May 15th
George, when you get a chance, can you explain the differences between the TY and Sy tc? I have searched and from what I gather is that the Sy has a 27 spline output shaft and the ty as a 32, Is it truly worthwhile to have a 'ty' transfer case for the 32 spline output shaft?
There is one major difference. The Ty case has a longer 32 spline OUTPUT shaft and a LONGER tailhousing with larger bushing journal to accomodate it.
The stock 27 spline OUTPUT shaft is a ROLLED compressed spline piece so it will take care of most of the driver's out there. The 27 spline setups HAVE been twisted off by big HP guys that have transbrakes and do burnouts to heat the tires. Robert from Sweden reportedly twisted off a 32 spline output shaft, but after thousands of passes.
The 32 spline definitely told the direction BW was headed with this case but due to a GM deal with NVG, at the time, it never materialized.
I'm currently working on a transfer case output shaft that is 32 spline but is shorter and I am attempting to use the STOCK Sy tailhousing. I think this will make all of the currently undesirable Sy transfer cases again useful pieces.
I've been attacked enough recently. If you are reading this and do NOT want a 32 spline output shaft to replace your current Sy case 27 spline output shaft, please keep it to yourself. I'm just sharing something I'm working on with you guys. There will ALWAYS be those that want the extra cushion of safety and dependability.
