$400 bucks worth it for factory motor-mounts installed?

I heard it was a pain in the ass if you don't have the right tools so I dont want to bother. the GM mounts he said are @$110 each and labor was $40 bucks each + another $40 for inspecting the drive/halfshafts -removed from veh.- and repairing a f'ed up bolt on the pass. side A-arm for the front swaybar. Now he wants to charge extra because he has to drop the front axle which ends up to @$400 bucks total.
Raise hell or is that ok?

f*** No .

f*** No .

Hell No , you could have solid mounts and pads for the price of 1 from him . I would check other places and only pay that if you had no other choice .

motor mounts suck no matter what. $400 doesnt sound all that unreasonable for an installed price. if you get them replaced make sure you add a tie down strap, or your gonna be doing the same thing again next year. i prefer the aftermarket V8 solid mounts and JS frame plates, but those are a bear to install with the motor in the truck.

$15 BUCKS??? Where?!? I went to the Chevy dealership where he ordered them -because I saw the truck pull up to deliver the mounts before I got picked up- and they are $119.00 each.
I'm sure I could order aftermarket for @$60 from like Autozone or something but I'm going for as much OEM as I can for this Ty. even though it will be more expensive in the long run.

mrking01 thx for replying. Yea I have no choice since its there now, hopefully he does a good job and I did stick around to see the GM dealer delivery truck bring OEM motor mounts like I told him.

Thx E-RUE for the reply. I still have the parts I got from homedepot to make a strap I just didn't realize how insanely (is that a word? :p ) bad the mounts were otherwise I would of had it on a couple months ago :)
The driverside mount is totally useless, torn completely in two. The passenger side was cracked aswell but as you know doesnt get the twist under throttle like the driver side.

I actually went to this guy so he could check my drivetrain for a clunk noise when I come to stops. It happens almost all the time when I'm in "D" but when I'm in "OD" I don't even think it happened once! When I installed the front swaybar I grabbed the halfshaft/driveshaft and I found out that the transfercase sounds like its making the clunk I'm hearing. Ok, so I take it to this guy who -for free- puts the car up with his worker inside who puts the car in D then N then D then N etc etc. Sure enough the transfercase is clunking. He said its rebuildable, but I heard either its not rebuildable or its not worth rebuilding something like that. Anyway thats when we also saw the engine twist like a 2" gap between the two halves of the driverside motormount. So I told him to change the motormounts first. He wants another $200 just to remove and open up the transfercase. I said "I cant do it this week because I'm very busy maybe next week we can do that." So thats where I'm at now. Car will be ready he said @10AM tomorrow with new OEM mmounts.
What do you all think about the transfercase? The one thats in there now has already been rebuilt because I can see blue silicone sealer between the two halves. Whats a reasonable price?

Yes, don't go for generic motor mounts, DOMN8R had a shop install motor mounts (and whatever brand they used), it failed after 6 months.

Motor Mount Suck ot do, the JS one are even harder to install than factory. Make sure the shop doesn't throw away your motor mount heat shields.
