412 cam - 4l80e shift points

i´m still running the base program george blake provided on my tci controller and would like to adjust the shift points. engine has a 412 cam, vortecs and 50# injectors and a pte 44, stall is 2800 - at wich rpm should i set the shift points and are there any other changes i should perform when adjusting them (line pressure, lock up settings......) ?

Your shift points should be set according to your DM dyno/power curve.

Do a DM run and see if you are at the top of the curve or not. If you are changing well below on your power curve then change the shift point higher.

Higher Line pressure will make the shifts firmer/more aggressive but there is an odd duty cycle setting I can't remember.

You're getting into the realms of actually tuning your trans rather than there being set shift points. Each truck will have some slightly different points.

for the 412 I'd prob not go over about 5300rpm's on the shifts. you won't see much more in power or TQ over that rpm, but it all depends on how your truck reacts.

you might want more rpm so that when you shift it's closer to the peak tq for the next gear and doesn't bog down and cause knock.

depends on how hard you are going to run it and if you want every last ounce it can give or if you want some measure of safety margin.
