4l80e help/suggestions

switchhappy!!!
have the 4l80e installed, wired up correctly with george blakes modified harness and the tci wp and would need some suggestions at this point:

first:
the tranny works, shifts, downshifts and has od - but i have no lockup - when performing the tcc switch test at the connector i get infinite ressistance what leads me to the idea, that it might be a lose connection inside the trany BUT: i already lost the lockup with the 700r4 and couldn´t even get it to lock with the override switch - where could i check for a problem that dissables lockup in both applications - i´m lost?

second: i cant datalog and can´t connect to the tci wp - when hooking up the laptop and trying to connect i get a "no pcm dedected" message - but the pcm is working, otherwise the trany wouldn´t shift - correct?
any suggestions?

third and worst:
i can´t boostlaunch - when powerbraking the sy, the engine revs up to about 3000 (2600stall) but when letting off the brake, the truck creeps forward for a second or two before taking of - no boost launch effect.
help me out!

Are you feeling the truck "wind up" when prepping for the boost launch?
If your not getting any lockup even when trying to hardwire it, you've most likely got a bad TCC solenoid, especially with infinite resistance.
You need to get hooked up to that controller to make sure your program is ok. It probably is but you need to verify it and do a pressure test. You want 185 psi at WOT.
I remember early on that the converter wasn't seated right. You got that seated correctly, right? Something really sounds like it's not right with the converter or the forward clutch is slipping.
Look at this. Especially the part where it talks about lack of power when accellerating from a stop.

It almost sounds like you have a few things going on.

TCC Solenoid for #1

usb/serial issue #2

maybe program problem from there, tps signal not working would cause some issues.

That's why I say you've got to get in that TCU and check line pressure and make sure TPS is reading correctly. If the TPS isn't registering with the TCU, the pressures in the trans won't compensate and that forward clutch can slip. If TPS is good, line pressures go up with tps, and the truck just doesn't want to take off under any circumstance (wants a lot of throttle to pull away), the one way clutch in the converter is being allowed to spin the wrong way.
Here's all the ohm ratings:
(20 to 40 OHM) shift solenoids (both of them should read the same)
(9 to 14 OHM) PWM-TCC solenoid
(3.5 to 4.66 OHM) EPC solenoid

Re: 4l80e help/suggestions

thanks guys!

the launch problem feels like the one you described, george - almost feels like slip, or the truck trying to start in second gear, or the converter problem - once it´s going everything feels tight, even at wot. converter is seated right! oil looks good, no stuff in the pan! all the other switches read fine when performing the ohm test - i´ll tear in it to read the tcc solenoid directly next week!
the laptop has serial, so there can´t be a usb problem - i guess that´s the first thing to solve - i get the program started, running, and when trying to connect or to ping the pcm i get a no pcm dedected message!
how and what can i check to get it to hook up?

berzerk - stop rubbing it in - lol! ps.: some sy/tys for sale in austria - interrested?

See which com port your laptop has the serial assigned to and make sure you've got the TCI software set to communicate with that com. It'll hook right up. If it still won't check your cable running from the laptop to the TCU. If that has ANY corrosion on it, it won't link.

no i need to cut back on those..i ahev a sy for sale if you're intrested with a perfect working tranny, you'll get a rebuilded one with it only need to swap the engine and you get a good working engine with it.:D

It's just a six
