4L80E question for George Blake.

Hey George....

I've got a (hopefully) quick question for you.

Got a 2004 4L80E in my '99 Bravada. Had 3 DTC when I started, have resolved one of them (TCC Sol), know what to do with the 2nd one (ISS Speed sensor), but not sure about the 3rd.

One I don't know how to address / troubleshoot is code P0706, a transmission range sensor problem.

I looked at my GM service manual for the '99 Bravada, but it doesn't list that code at all.

Would you happen to have anything on code P0706 and how to correct it?

Range sensor sounds like a problem with the gear selector. The computer can read and sense what gear is selected on the shifter. P, R, N, D, 3, 2, 1 and adjust accordingly.

Sounds like either the sensor is bad, or you have shifter not adjusted correctly.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure its the range selector. Its brand spankin new (had to swap from the late '04 style with 1 connector to the earlier style with 2 connector) so, I think its ok.

Any clue as to what the appropriate adjustment procedure is for the switch? I know that there is a angular adjustment on the range selector switch, but how to set it is my dilema....

I'm sure I can keep moving it around and clearing the codes until the problem goes away, just would prefer to do it right the first time.

Shifter cable seems ok, but again, don't have a solid idea as to how to adjust the position correctly. Certainly could be off, since I fabricated the bracket out of the 60E bracket (some hacking, chopping, and welding was required).
