Today I successfully bolted a silvarado SS transfer case to the back of a 4l80e. Everything works and fits like a dream after a custom part or two.
The good news for any of my 4l80e customers, past, current and future is I will be offering that upgrade for minimal cost.
The advantage to the SS is the factory rating of an additional 1k ft lbs or torque capability. 2500 -vs- the Stock 1500
Granted transfer cases don't break often, but as some of the fast guys approach the 9, 8, and 7 second range it is a good option to consider.
The one disadvantage I have found out though is, no more 2wd dyno or driving on them.
