85 amp alternator

Chasing and finding some electrical gremlins I also discovered that my alt had decided to cease to function. Always interesting when the source of your electricity goes away in the middle of diagnosing other elec issues.:tdown:

Anyway, the reason for the post is that my "original" alt probably wasn't original. It was rated at only 85 amp. I was under the impression that our trucks came with 100/105 amp alt's. Changed before I bought the truck? Might want to take a look at yours.

Ouch. The stock syty electrical system seems to get quickly overwhelmed with things like dual fuel pumps, e-fans, a relocated battery, maybe different pulleys, etc.

With only an 85A alternator, I can imagine you'd definitely have some issues, especially at night with the headlights on, fog lights, etc. The stock alternator should be 105 amps IIRC. Unfortunately the CS130 comes in a ton of different amperages so incorrect ones will interchange.

By having the correct voltage in the system I'm gonna virtually going have to start over with tuning the thing, At least I have some notes. Odd, it does already seem to run better...:rotf:

Don i upgraded my alternator with a Mechman unit
and adjustable voltage module so i can adjust my
voltage up to 15 volts for additional accessories
works great and no more dimmer headlights ..
