I'm jealous your gauges say Typhoon, mine wont when they get here this week.

I like having the logo on there, but something tells me when it's lit up at night I am going to be so annoyed by the "Typhoon" going uphill that I will eventually order another set (without the boost gauge)

:rotf: I know what you mean. That was the first thing I noticed but then when I looked at the decals on the truck at level they are the same way. Guess it's one of those things that is just the way it is. I think it would be nice if I could just get them to not put the Speed Hut logo on there. That is just a goobery thing to have on your gauges.

Negative. It's at the house. I'm not skilled enough to drop an engine on my own yet.

A little something-something arose though.

The trans side of the flywheel has 2 gashes in it. They aren't too terribly big, but they are concerning. It looks like something may have broken off and spun around once or twice. However, I don't see anything that would point to that.

I know the trans was rebuilt about a year before I got the truck. The only problem I really had out of it was some torque converter shudder at times. After putting in some LubeGard it pretty much went completely away...

So I dunno if this damage to the flywheel was prior to me getting the truck or if something happened while I owned the truck. Thoughts? Last thing I want to do is put a fresh motor in it then blow the transmission out of it the following week. I'll try and post some pics of it here in a bit. Think imma take off work a lil early today.

Order an SFI flex plate and be done with it. Worries over. Was the motor balanced using your existing plate? Might be an issue there. Can you post pics?

I will post up some pics here in a bit. I am at work ATM and forgot to shoot a pic of it before I came in today. Just found out also we have a JEGs in Nashville. Whoddathunkit.

Also, to expand on above: none of the teeth of the flywheel appear to be damaged.

Dropped back in.
Have some other pics but this is the only one I have on me at the moment.
Hope to get a good amount accomplished since I am off work tomorrow.

Lil' update on where we are at:

First, the flex plate / flywheel issue: had 2 persons much more knowledgeable than myself check it out. Both said that there is no sign that something recently caused the issue. They believe that the scrapes were done prior to me purchasing the truck, probably when the transmission was replaced (which wouldn't surprise me since they also stripped bolts in the process). Confirmed the motor was balanced w/ the flywheel on, so since they claim it won't cause any issues, I am going to leave as is for now.

Ran into 3 minor issues. We shall call them rookie mistakes.

1: fuel lines are off by about an inch or so. I'm to the bottom of the far left bell housing bolt. I then realized that I need to be running along the top. So from looking at it, I think that if I have another person on top pushing them down while I am underneath the truck, I can slide them up and over that bolt and they should slide into where they are supposed to be. At least, I hope. If not, I have 2 other recommendations that I shall attempt.

2: Turbo oil line. Didn't realize it was pointed at a downward angle vs being parallel with the block when the motor went in. Thus I was about 2-3" off between the turbo and that line. Thanks to Dave P, I was able to get that rectified quickly. :)

3: Turbo coolant line. Realized I am missing the adapter from the block to the line. Got one of those on the way courtesy of Dave as well.

I paused for the moment until I can address the fuel line issue. Don't want to be putting shit on just to have to take it back off if need be. But the manifolds/xover pipe are on, fuel rail/injectors, turbo mounted, blah blah.

Anyways, the rest should be pretty easy going. Tomorrow before work I'll put the a/c and steering brackets on, water pump, blah blah. The fun part will be reconnecting the rats nest of wiring. <sigh>.

Keeping fingers crossed that we don't run into any major issues between now and the time it comes to turn it over for the first time.
