92' Typhoon in Texas 34k miles for sale

92' Typhoon has 34,000 miles it's teal/greay in color and runs great. It's was stored for 8-years in a friends garage until I found it and stored it for another year until I could get to it. I collect show cars for a hobby and this one is not in show condition. It has a couple of bad spots in the paint but overall the paint is in good condition, its missing the left fender cladding, and the A.C. needs charging. The front facsia needs adjusting and all the cladding could use a new coat of paint. Currently it's running on a carburator because the original system failed for some reason, so it was pulled off then the truck was sold some time years ago. I have a turbo, upper and lower intake, intercooler, and a new fuel rail, which are included with the sale. I know nothing about these engines and would think someone could get it back to original easily, since it's mostly all bolt on parts. If someone is looking to find a small project to save money but end up with a very low mile Typhoon, this is the one. (I have a clear title). $8500 You can visit the web site below to photos. :tup:

Wrong. It's a real Ty. No red flags on carfax (which a dealer ran for me but did not send a copy). Here's the VIN: 1GDCT18Z2N0810648

Great project truck for someone who can wrench. If I had the time and knowledge, this truck would already be in my garage.

Share it here now, I think everyone is wanting to know what the story is on this truck's life and the deal on the motor swap. It'll end up on here sooner or later, might as well be from the current owner.

Ok, That is a Typhoon according to VIN. Maybe was a theft? Or someone blew it up.I would love to know the story also behind this one. Myself being a car collector and restorer it is nice to have collectibles with original drivetrains but this would be a sweet driver with a ty motor swap.
Does anyone out there like the color? they made 50 and I know there rare but I have never seen this color in person. Any thoughts?

Where are you guys getting your numbers from? townsend claims 33 trucks. Confirm that there are 50.

While there isnt any many teals as black, white and red trucks, they are not rare.

Their is more than 50, Sportmachines have 53 registered Teals. The real number is probably around 125 (Just an estimate, using the current trend registered of Teals).

If you take Black, Red and White, those color make approx 70% of the Production Ty colors. All the other color combo end up being degree of rarity. The rarest production color are thought to Aspen, Royal and Garnett, with Aspen appearing to be the rarest (it helps it was discontinued mid 92)

It's a Ty motor but the intake has been changed to carburated N/A and there's no turbo. But he has most or all of the parts to re-convert. I'm sure he'll share the story behind the whole thing.

OK Ladies.......

The original owner was an older lady (no-one knows if she bought it for her son or her grandson) who took it in for service at a local Buick dealership. When she called service to get an answer on when to pick it up, they kept stalling. This went on for weeks, she decided to hire an attorney which eventually learned that the trruck had been damaged over an unauthorized joyfull weekend of racing by the hands of their service manager. Needless to say he was fired shortly after he returned the truck to work on Monday using the dealerships tow truck. Still never knowing what exactly was wrong with the truck, she demanded to be reinbursed for the full amount of the cost of the vehicle and nothing less, well this started a long court battle that lasted for over a year which ended with the woman winning her case. She received full "out of pocket" expenses plus attorneys fees. Now the dealership, not being a well educated "SyTy" dealership, decided to remove what was damaged (still today don't know) the turbo system, and replace it with what is on today then auction it..... Now a good friend of mine was still recovering from selling his Grand National while in route to Galveston for a weekend and noticed this Teal/Grey Typhoon in a used car lot and immediatly pulled over, this was in 1999. He purchased it, hoping it would heal the wounds of his departed Grand National. He then drove it to a friend who use to work on his GN to get it back to original condition with a $2000 deposit. 6-months go by and his friend wants another $1000, so he sends it, then another 3-months go be and he wants another $500. My friend goes to check on the truck and finds it under a tree behind his business looking like it has never been touched, he then tells the mechanic he's going to put gas in it and bring it back, he then drove it home and there it stayed for the next 8-years until I kept giving him crap about it. I eventually bought it because I could'nt stand seeing it sit there any longer. It runs great, everything works except fot the A.C. (it needs to be filled). I'm trying to keep the cost down because the more I do, the higher the price. Here's what I've done.

-fuel tank cleaned
-new fuel pump
-new fuel filter
-new fuel sending unit
-new fuel line
-new plugs
-new belt
-new engine oil / filter
-new transmission oil / filter
-new front rotors
-new front brake pads
-new right front caliper
-new right front brake line
-new parking brake cable

I stand to be corrected... Myself, not being a long time SyTy buff have to take the words from Robert (the SyTy cladding guy 702-398-3972) who informed me "he thought" the production number on 92' Teal/Greys was around 33. I can tell I'm dealing with a well versed community here.

I'm trying to decide whether or not to order the missing cladding, have all the cladding re-adjusted, then paint all the original grey. I'd rather someone else finish it, I have a new race car being delivered in a couple of weeks and will soon loose interest.

Don't sweat it. No one knows for sure. Exact numbers are not known. Lots of blacks, lots of whites, decent number of reds, plenty of greens, some teals, couple of garnet red, a few blues, and a handful of oddities.
