93 Overhead console swap into 92 TY

Hey everyone,
I saw the overhead console used in the 93 TY and would like to get one for my 92. Has anyone out there performed this swap? What parts are neeeded? Are the brackets already in place above the headliner in my 92? What about the wire harness? Also, anyone know where I could track down the correct overhead console or have a GM part # for it? How difficult was the install?

Thanks for the info. Does anyone know what years and models of vehicles we can pull overhead consoles from? Every once in awhile I run across a crashed bravada or jimmy that the local yards are parting out. Is there a specific model/ year that works better than others or has better features? If I wanted one with a compass or temp. display, is there some extra sensors/ senders/ wire harnesses that I need to get? Any help is appreciated. Thanks again.

while we're on the topic i was thinkin about a similar operation... i was thinkin about puttin one in my sy... anyone have any ideas??? you can buy new consoles on ebay for about $100 vs $300 from the dealer... but i want to know if its possible before i go throwin down $100...

Hi Everybody, I am installing an overhead console, with compass, temp ect. in a 93 blazer and I will order the wiring harness #12541365 tommorow and see if it is compatable with the 96 astro van overhead console I got from ebay last week for $50. It would probably be alot easier and maybe worth the extra $50 bucks or so and get the console and other things such as the mounts and wiring harness out of a wrecked blazer /bravada/ jimmy if it were available, but scince in my case, it wasn't. I trial fitted the console and it is almost a perfect fit. It will probably/ could use some trimming on the front of the console to close up the gaps. I think I am going to have to remove the headliner and install some mounts or supports. I hope to complete this soon, and I'll let you know. I did find another 96 up astro van console for a buy it now price of $40 on ebay yesterday. My gm parts dealer could not find a number on an install kit, but he did have the outside temp sensor and the connector for that also. Scince I am new here, if anyone has any electrical problems or needs schematics on any auto from 83 to 1999 years, let me know...Steve.
