Air Intake???

Re: Air Intake???

My biggest thing here is that in as much as I can, I will keep my truck as stock and unmodified as possible. I know that the stock air box and crossover pipe are restrictive but most of these systems require relocating the battery which I don't want to do. Catch 22?

Re: Air Intake???

The crossover pipe has a very minimal restriction. Unless you're extensively modified, you're not going to see any loss by just using the crossover and dumping the airbox. There is a thread where they flowbenched the crossover pipe, box, etc. in the past.

Re: Air Intake???

Using my AEM TruBoost, I got better boost control with the crossover tube than othing on the turbo inlet at all. Being that I have to smog mine in CA, I'm gonna have a crossover tube made here next week.

I have made 2 offers on that Kenne Bell set up off of ebay since last September but the guy thinks it is a gold mine. I have everything but that stupid box and honestly I have a bit of a project I want to do with it. Oh well, maybe in a year or two he will give up and sell it to me.

It's just a six

Here is the ram air box I made to feed air to the inner fender.
It's not pretty, but it works.

This feeds cool air to the air box I made.
6" velocity stack to improve airflow.

Re: Air Intake???

I made an intake setup that leaves the battery in the stock location, but places a ~10" K&N filter behind the right fog light. The bottom of the filter sits level with the bottom of the bumper and allowed me to keep a full size battery in the stock location, although I did have to do some adjusting with the a/c lines. It uses the stock orange elbow and a 12"-14" long piece of metal intake tubing with about a 45* angle near the end. I prefer the intake be completely out of the engine bay for cooler air, it also makes the turbo really loud.

Re: Air Intake???

I bought the tranny fitting from Mike AKA RPM

I was trying to avoid running a new hose, but I have so much other crap to do, might as well. It would look nicer actually. I'll be driving by his shop tomorrow anyways, might just stop and get it.

I'd be worried about getting water sucked in. I drive mine every day in the summer, somtimes getting caught in the rain.
