Another Bowtie Build

Well it's that time. For the last year and a half I have been stock piling parts and now its time to start putting my new build together.

This time I am building my engine around my turbo which is this 76mm ( the one on the right)

Not entirely sure I will stick with but willing to give it a chance. Next up is the Bowtie block (and Crower rods) I got from Fivetodrive for the mere cost of putting "Crispy" back together. I had it bored .030 and am using JE Extreme Duty pistons that will pan out to be 9.89:1 compression. And of course I will be reusing my Crower forged crank.

Next up I got me some fabulous aluminum Bowtie heads. A lot of learning is going to these for me and I am doing a lot of things I have never done before. This time I am actually going to attempt degreeing the cam and if I don't feel confident in it I will have someone else do it. For what I have spent on this so far I think it is important to have it done this time.

That's it for now. I have ordered Crower rockers with offset intakes at .874 OD. Already have the Jesel shaft mounts that are going. Not sure on push rods yet. I am hoping to have the engine totally assembled by the end of November.

Looking good Mike!

You must be serious about hitting 10's in Co.

What degree heads are those (23*?) & what intake set-up are you going to use?

Just curious, what size bore can those blocks go to? 4.155"

I am very serious. From all the guess work I have done I may be a few tenths short of my goal with this turbo.

They are 23* heads and I will be running a heavily modified stock lower intake with a forward facing upper plenum. Intake on top is the one I'll be using, you can they welded spacers to it and machined it to fit the bowtie heads. Also you can see the plenum, it will look something like this.

Not sure how much you can bore one of these out.

Looking nice!

Got some pics of the intake manifold intake ports?
Raised the roof of the runners?

What trim is the turbine wheel, "S" trim? Also, what is the A/R on the turbine housing?

When Champion ported the heads they lowered the floor of the port
for maximum air flow and they went through in a couple of spots.

Re: Another Bowtie Build

It looks like I have hit a pretty big snag in my plans. I have been wondering about the lifter bores for a while now. They measure out OK with a caliper but seem like they wiggle a little too much. I went out and got a magnetic stand for my dial indicator and come to find out I have 4-5 thousandths clearance, WAY too much. So now I have to tear it all down and drop it off to get the bores re-sleeved. Hoping to get it all back in a week or two. Better to be safe I guess.

Pretty slick Mike. Glad to hear you degreed the cam. IMHO it's a mistake to not do it on most any build above stock.
Lets see, end of Nov eh? doesn't it snow about that time? Hope you don't have to wait 'till spring to launch that thing.

I should state, it will be end of November when the ENGINE is done. I'm pretty far off from getting it running. Going to have to build another set of headers, plumb the rack and pinion, get 120# INJ, plumb oil system and who knows what else.
