I can't speak for the Ottawa area, but there are a few of us within a few hours of there. I think there's one in Kingston too, but Not sure.
Where are ya moving from? Must be a Government job if your going to Ottawa...

im moving from maryland. its not a government job, just a decent paying marketing job. i heard that ottawa was a really nice area, but i really don't know too much about canada. just alot of internet research. ottwa seems to have very low crime, low cost of living and decent pay. thats all im pretty much looking for. i hope i dont need to know french, i took it for 3 years and can barely ask where the bathroom is

No worries, Ottawa is a great city. I've got lots of family there so I know it well. Large enough to give you lots of choices for housing, employment & the likes. But small enough to still be considered one of Canada's better cities.
Pack a shovel though, and some warm clothes, cause the winters can be brutal. Don't worry about the language, unless you cross the river...

Good luck!

low cost of living

hmmm... dollar is about even, but you might want to double-check those cost of living numbers (ie: income tax and sales tax are the big ones). when i left, sales tax in Ontario was 15% (PST + GST).
