Anybody ever use solid lifters

I'm wondering if anyone ever switched over to a solid cam/lifter setup. Maybe some of you guys with the billet cranks that rev 7krpm. Do the SBC solid lifters work in our engine?

TIA

i may be wrong but i think the only owner that comes to this board reving to 7k is hoover!

If i remember tonite I will ask harry when i get to atco if tom ferrick is running solids.

ken's right there on the comp lifters - they just became available again - i am sporting a set myself.
no flames, but i think solids would be way dumb.
first, ever heard a set?
yer knock sensor will love 'em!
second, why go backwards in cam profile rise rate?
last, friction, and all flat lifters/cams will eventually take a shit - a roller cam should last forever.

I saw harry last nite.

Tom ferrick is running solid lifters, and yes he does rev past 7k rpm.

They do make a solid roller.

Although I don't plan to run solid in my ty. 1 car with solid is enough for me.

I will suggest, if you do go solid, beef up the valve train as much as possible.

7/16" studs, girdle, etc. Will help prevent the constant lash adjustments.

Has worked on my 350 with solid. Probably 15k miles now, without any major adjustments needed, just checked a few times.

sorry, AL - i shoulda figgered that out myself.
jeff's right, tho - use premium parts and the lash adjusts are less frequent then most would tell you - assuming the cam is set up as a street roller type of profile - with ultra fast race ramps you will need to adjust at least somewhat more often.
i'd still be a LITTLE leery of knock sensor hassles, tho much quieter then a solid flat.
bear in mind a juice roller CAN be made to go to 7k with the right parts....
however a solid is always worth more power by a few % at least, combo dependent....
