Anyone ever used a compact dry cell battery?

Has anyone ever tried a compact dry cell battery? This one is very small like a motorcycle battery. I talked to about 6 people that are using it now. They all have V8 and the battery has plenty of power to start there cars. I will be ordering one this week. Looks like i will be able to put it under my factory battery tray and still have room for a custom cold air intake.

Ummmmm OK, perhaps I'm missing something here.. The link pulls up a sealed LEAD ACID battery, just like the ones U can get anywhere. I looked around briefly on the site and couldnt find on that matches what you are talking about..

it is actually virgin lead that they use in them. i just got of the phone with them. Hawker is the company that makes them. Interesting.. VERY INTERESTING, posts like this are the reason I read the bbs and read my emails from the old LIST... Any idea what the price is on the one that fits below battery tray ?

I'm interested in that same conversion, I want to put a ram air hood mod on my truck this winter and that would help immensely. The CCA's seem to be there to start the truck so I'm definitely interested. I guess I can always call them and ask but I was wondering if you had a price.

We've used several of these, just did a custom install on the Braphoon with one. I'll let you know how it works out. The one we did in the Syclone has been in there for a few months now, sitting intermittently, and has worked fine. The Braphoon one was installed to make room for a cold air intake, in prep for alky install. So far so good on 'em. We have a link for 'em new from a vendor for like $60 or so. I'll get that info in a couple days when I'm back on my home computer (and as soon as I get my chip burner working again :evil: :evil: :evil: )

I've been using one for years on my Ty. Very small and light. It allowed me to keep the battery in the stock location with the KB headers and big turbo.

thats cool, do you have a alarm or anything that runs of the battery? i was just wondering how it will do with my alarm.

What did you use to secure it in place, a different kind of battery tray, or some kind of straps?

I've rigged up several different setups.

The latest I used a piece of metal I found around the garage as a tray, and I used some sheet metal screws to secure it to the fenderwell/rad support at the front. This is after I removed the factory tray & vacuum ball. I had 2 holes drilled in the bottom of the new battery plate to slip J hooks through, which you can find at Autozone/Pep boys etc. Then I used a small bracket I found at a hardware store to tighten down the J hooks to hold the battery. It's way low to accomodate a cone filter, stock battery lines haven't been cut/modified, and you can get at it easily if you move the filter.

I'll get a pic soon, or you can see it at Nats.
