Anyone had done this before (New Steering wheel + Lights)

Hi Fellas,
I want to change the steering wheel into a new one but from the Summit Racing I can see those wheels from (oops..forgot the name) and most of them require an adaptor. Has anyone changed his/her steering wheel with a commercial one and what is this adaptor for?

I am planning also to install those under car lights so any one had done that yet? I am getting the ones that had a transformer built in for easy installtion.

Any experience on this will be appreciated.

Hi All,

I did not get any reply regarding this issue, does this mean that no one has done this before (changing the steering wheel with a commercial one) and installing under carriage lights which makes it a bit cool when crusing at night.

no one tries it because it would look ridiculous.

I swapped my steering wheel to a smaller one and it makes driving much better helps with comfort im 6 foot 3 and the stock wheel was in the way getting in and out.

Thanks for the words and I will try to make more sense of it.

The stock steering wheel is showing its age and I think replacing with one of the those nasty looking steering wheels that are 14 or 15 inches in diameter would look nice instead of the stock 16 inches steering wheel.

Regarding the under carriage lights, you could have seen those in the movie (The Fast and the Furious) or alternatively check the following site (http://www.streetglow.com/site/auto.htm and then go to the Blue Line series and go to View the Interactive Color Chart)

This will give you an idea. It looks really nice in the evening especially if the weather is nice. It has no advantage other than looking good on the car and that it also gives the impression that this truck is looked after (my opinion).

I was asking for if someone had already done that, but looks like I will be the first one to try that and learn from my mistakes. Once its connected, I will be posting some clips on my site so that anyone who is interested can see what I mean by looking good.

don't need a smaller wheel just shorter pumps on those reeboks.. hehe..

Was justin wheeler I believe.... he had red neon.... typhoon1588 or mike had this awesome rear shot from a low ground level in 1600x1200 pictture format... wish I still had it.... breathtaking piece of photography... :cry:

Around here, most of the people with neon kits are losers who think it makes their crappy cars faster. I used to like the "floating on a cloud of color" look when it was rare and done properly, but all the riceboys have turned me off to it. If you like the way it looks go ahead and do it, but don't expect a lot of the people here to help, as they put neon in the same category as fart pipes and huge spoilers.

I had neons on my 86 blazer, that's where they belong in the 80s with Miami Vice.

-Any good kit is going to come with good instructions.
-Use a relay to power the neon transformers, in tube transformers are probably the norm nowadays. You do not want that kind of current coming through a switch in your dash.
-Use FUSES Close to the battery on the relay side as well as the switch side.
I ran 5 4' tubes with no current draw problems, although I'd never do it again.
That kind of money and hassle is better exerted elsewhere.

The steering wheel I agree on going to a smaller one. Stock unit feels like driving a bus when you have a quick ratio steering box.
The steering wheel adapter is necessary for the aftermarket wheel to bolt up the stock GM steering shaft. Basically you need one if you're changing the wheel.
Also consider recovering your stock wheel.
Many places offer leather wrapping and you can have them stitch it in Red instead of black so it matches the Sy.
Just different Ideas... thats all.
