I’ve been playing with TunerPro RT and logged some runs. Now I’m ready to buy hardware.
I been reading some have had problems with the Autoprom.
I like the features it offers like the APADC A/D connection for more input data, and burner.

For those that bought the Autoprom would you buy this unit again?

Re: Autoprom or Ostrich?

Ive got an autoprom. So far I LOVE it. It isnt full featured on $58 '749 ecm's though, which kinda has me bummed. It is SO much better, faster and easier than burning chips, logging and reburning. I dont use it for the burner- Ive got one of those too. If I could only log and emulate at the same time like its supposed to, it would be incredible!

I guess since it wont fully work in our application (yet, Mark says they are working on a solution) its no better than an ostrich, except that it will burn chips. My Autoprom is "permanently" installed. Ive got no chip in the ECM, and havent had one for a few weeks now. The laptop isnt connected to it, its just acting as my chip. No glitches, no snags, works perfect so far. When I want to make a change I hook up the USB cable to my laptop, alter the bin and upload it to the autoprom. It takes about 5 seconds, and its done. I can also tune on the fly, of course. Its the best money Ive spent on tuning equipment by far. Whichever you choose you will be happy.

PS- I bought my autoprom used for $200 shipped. Search and you can find used ones.

Re: Autoprom or Ostrich?

Well like was said above, since the autoprom doesnt fully work with our trucks, id save a few bucks and just buy the ostrich, it can be installed permantly into the ecm with no need to ever burn chips again.

Then just use DM for datalog and your set.

Im currently using a borrowed autoprom, and as soon as funds allow im going to be buying my own hardware and im going to go with the ostrich.

Re: Autoprom or Ostrich?

I love my ostrich / wb setup . Your always gonna want make changes here and there . So would you really want to burn a chip at some point with the autoprom , and remove it , only to re-install it later to make another change ? The autoprom's price does include a $30 aldl cord so you really only save 120 .That savings would cover the still needed g1/ g3 adapter and zif socket .
