Re: Autoprom or Ostrich?
Ive got an autoprom. So far I LOVE it. It isnt full featured on $58 '749 ecm's though, which kinda has me bummed. It is SO much better, faster and easier than burning chips, logging and reburning. I dont use it for the burner- Ive got one of those too. If I could only log and emulate at the same time like its supposed to, it would be incredible!
I guess since it wont fully work in our application (yet, Mark says they are working on a solution) its no better than an ostrich, except that it will burn chips. My Autoprom is "permanently" installed. Ive got no chip in the ECM, and havent had one for a few weeks now. The laptop isnt connected to it, its just acting as my chip. No glitches, no snags, works perfect so far. When I want to make a change I hook up the USB cable to my laptop, alter the bin and upload it to the autoprom. It takes about 5 seconds, and its done. I can also tune on the fly, of course. Its the best money Ive spent on tuning equipment by far. Whichever you choose you will be happy.
PS- I bought my autoprom used for $200 shipped. Search and you can find used ones.
