I don't think a fair amount of us will be "amazing" in regards to the AutoX but its all in fun. The idea is to have fun and for some try something new. I am working on getting the wife to give it a whirl....in her Grand Caravan of course with the DVD on. ;)

AutoX was something we thought about for Nationals 12 but eventually had to rule it out (even though we had Dabney and all his timing equipment :lol: ).

Two quick things to consider when looking to AutoX:

Insurance. Does your venue have it and are they willing to let you AutoX on their property? The first person to hit a curb, another truck, etc. during an AutoX event without insurance makes for a very bad day.
Knowledge. Do you have someone associated with SCCA or another club setting up the course? If things are not done properly, you can seriously damage/roll a truck.

The best thing you can do is get with a local club for and AutoX event. That way, you'll have the insurance, safety inspections, timing, etc. all covered.

I'm sure you guys are considering all the angles and such, just figured from one event to another, we'd help cover all the bases and keep the event safe for everyone! :tup:

Yup, that is exactly what we are up against right now. We are looking into everything and the cost is quite high. We are working on a sponsor and waiting to hear back from a couple of vendors to see what they are going to be able to do with us. That will answer the question, if we are going to be able to do it or not.

Personally, I enjoyed the track aspect of Homecoming in the past. I know the track rentals have went up significantly but I feel that's what these truck were (stop light warriors). I always enjoyed the fact that Truck and Trailer Unlimited had a "private" road to do some short runs.

If you guys are still thinking about going with an auto crossing type event, I would hope the Waterford Hills course would be considered. I know it was brought up in years past. I think this would appeal to a larger audience, and more people could participate even if they just wanted to do a lap.

I brought up Waterford Hills at least once this year already.....$150 per event/driver.

The cost is more of an issue then the short dirt road.

One more bump....we will give this a little more time before closing it down and making a decision on this. For those that are not planning on doing this if it is offered, is it because you are hesitant on doing this in your own trucks/cars or.......would some of you be more willing in somebody elses wheels??

Due to the lack of interested participants, AutoX will most likely not happen. The cost is too high for too few of interested parties. We are still looking for outside funding, i.e. sponsorship of AutoX, to relieve the financial burden associated with putting it on. It is not a definitive no, but it isn't looking promising.
