Remember that we have to abide by stock limitations for FS, but for all else, you can pretty much have your way with wheels/tires. This is not a comprehensive list, just some good ones, so feel free to add as you see fit:

Re: AutoX R-Compound Tires

A good friend of mine is a Auto-X nut. Its all he cares about. The only tire he likes now a days is the Kumho Ecsta V710. Swears by it. He has lots of money and has tried almost all of these. But he is also 2wd cars ;)

Re: AutoX R-Compound Tires

Is it a disadvantage to be running wide wheels and big tire or are better with a 16 or 17 wheel? I just put CCW wheels on my truck 18x12 and 18x10 with 335 and 295 tires on it. And I know the tires I bought are not R-compound but must of the retro muscle cars that are running auto x seem to be running them BFG KDW2. Have u heard anything bad about them?

Wider wheels/tires = better cornering + better braking = better auto-x times
Heavier wheels/tires = slower acceleration = worse auto-x times

Basically, as long as you have enough power that the wheels don't hurt your acceleration then going +1 or +2 will help. KDW2's are nice tires too, they have the best dry cornering stability and dry traction of any ultra high performance summer tire from Tirerack.

Re: AutoX R-Compound Tires

The Hoosier A6's are the best for all out handling, but wont last as long as the Kuhmo 710's. A6 are god for about 80 laps and the 710's good for 100 laps, but those last 20 the tires are not very good on the kuhmos. A6's are great until thet cord.

Re: AutoX R-Compound Tires

We run toyo proxes ra1& R888 in all the race cars I worked on & raced. Seems like the best tire & they are designed to be shaved for racing so in a way the more worn it gets the better it grips. We also use them in our daily driven/track cars nice & safe on wet roads when still in good thread. And we get great miles out of them as well. I also ran Yokohama ADVAN A032 & A048 in various compound configurations & that was also a great tire but as for miles & life you get out of them Toyo gets the same performance double the lifespan.
