I think the turbo V6 would be cool. Heat would definitely be a concern in my book. Don't really want things melting......
I've also seen a guy who swapped an LS1 motor into his Astro, while retaining AWD. Looked pretty cool too, but was alot of work, with zero support (nobody to call for mounts, accessory drive, whatever). I think he's a retired machinist, so had plenty of time & a skill set that probably exceed most peoples.

It's been done with 2wd and 4wd. I mounted on in a two-wheel drive astro a few years ago but never finished it because I couldn't figure out the wiring. I eventually pulled the motor and installed it in my 4door blazer..........much easier. There's a least 2 at a shop in Brooklyln, NY. The owner has a 2wd and his brother a 4wd. Sometimes I still wish I stuck with the Astro project. The doghouse does interfere with the upper intercooler.
