Axle code confusion

About to do the rear axle seals on my Ty this coming weekend, and ran across the "C" and "K" axle question. I looked on my CD-ROM in the service manual and on the forum here, and they both say the code is stamped on the axle tube between the pumpkin and the driver's side brake backing plate. However, mine has absolutely nothing stamped or etched there. I took some pics of what I found:

So, the dumb question is, I'm guessing with that middle picture, I have a "K" axle built in Canada, right?

Re: Axle code confusion

None of those numbers are the axle code. The code is stamped into the tube, I thought on the passenger side. It has a 3 letter code, a 4 digit Julian date, and a shift denominator.

This pumpkin housing was cast on October 29, 1992.

Pinion seal will be done in the near future. The axle seal was weeping bad enough to soak the back side of the drum brakes and inside the drum itself, so that was first priority. Gonna need to do some research here to make sure I can do the pinion seal right and be able to set the pre-load right. Read the post from someone here on the forum that didn't set it right and burned it up after only 30 miles.

Re: Axle code confusion

Nice! Next time I'm up under mine, I'll have to check mine and jot the info down for "nice-to-know" info on my truck.
