base timing question...

Syclone#2960

What ever it takes!!
If I advanced the base timing from 0* to +8* should I automatically assume the scan tool spark advance display is spot on? Or do I add the additional *8 to what its displaying??

For example: right now at WOT I see 15* of timing...do I add the additional 8*??

You will need to add 8 degree for the scan tool value to be correct unless you change base timing constant in the ecm programming.

Code what?
This is good info, I've noticed the BS3 has this option when setting up your timing. So does changing it in the factory ECU have any advantages or is it more just for data logging exact info?

Re: base timing question...

aftermarket ECUs require a crank reference angle. Its a generic number that the distributor has to be timed to.
