Re: Battery exploded ? !

I finally decided to read this post. I had a battery tender that look yours as well on my Corvette. It worked fine the first winter, but the second winter I went out the garage one day in the middle of the winter and noticed that the battery and battery tender were very warm. I chucked that thing in the trash immediately. I am lucky that I decided to go out to the garage that day. I wasn't doing anything in particular, just decide to pop the hood and peek around.

I have that same tender on my El Camino and the Auto Shut off would never shut off... I burned up a few batteries by overheating them with that same exact tender!
NOW YOU TELL ME!
x2. I know lots of people and millions of dollars worth of cars that are on tenders, but tenders still make me nervous for some reason.

I have the exact one pictured above that came with my Syclone. It's been on the workbench forever...no I think I'm gonna toss it for sure.
GOOD IDEA! Put that thing in the trash!

possible that battery froze ??? looks like what happens to a battery when you try to charge it when its frozen.
I doubt that it could have frozen. I really think the tender malfunctioned.

Baking soda can newtralize the acid. I would powder all the areas were acid was unless you already cleaned it out.

Yes, I washed everything down with a solution of baking soda/water. Used a 3# bag baking soda I had gotten at sam's club.
Have my fingers crossed that there was no permanent damage.
No more battery tenders for me!
